Cottage pie coming up. I love it smothered in tomato ketchup. I don't add ketchup to other meals (apart from chips (fries) or burgers etc.) but with cottage pie it's a great pairing! There is a Tex-Mex version. Add chopped chilies to the meat, cumin and oregano. Top with cornmeal. You can probably get Polenta in Ireland. That will work, just do not cook it beyond the rough mush before adding it as a topping. My mother used to call this "Tamale Pie".

After all this discussion of meat pies I had to make one. It is more of a "Hubble Bubble" if anyone is old enough to remember this classic of English Institutional Food Service.
Leftovers from two nights combined with my own home made baked beans, and newly cooked burger with shallots and mushrooms, irrigated with HP Sauce and all in a baking dish topped with freshly mashed taters. Baked for 1/2 hour or so.
It is not so bad..... as Lord Percy Blakely, Baronet, observed, "Nothing is quite so bad as something which is not so bad." Sink me!

Polenta is readily available here.

I'm not much of a cook. But spending most of my life in a coastal setting--well--I can cook seafood. Made a shrimp gumbo and West Indies salad for dinner last night, and had leftovers for lunch today. For those who don't know--West Indies salad is lump white crab meat and onion marinated in oil and vinegar. I could eat it every day.

Leaving B 4 8am to go food shopping. I’m in the mood for a homemade strawberry rhubarb apple pie 👍. It will be a day of being indoors for me by 10am. I can no longer deal with hot muggy weather.

Here in NC you’ll find Hardee’s all over, Hardee’s which is my favorite fast food “ quality “ burger has not been in the NY area for over 20 years. People up North did not have the patience to wait 5 minutes for a fresh made burger. So, I’m off to treat myself to a Hardee’s mushroom/swiss cheese burger. 👍👍👍

Trader Joe's sriracha shrimp bowl. Iced coconut coffee to drink. It's 97 in the shade on the back porch. Done with the yard work. Time for a pipe.

I rarely eat dessert, as I am diabetic and have to avoid sugar and carbs. But I do cheat occasionally.
Well the result is that a real desert will give me indigestion. I guess I am out of practice. I had a piece of cheese cake last night and it kept me up all night.

Just finished a roast beef and pastrami sandwich with a slice of Provolone cheese on pumpernickel bread and chips. Drinking blackberry-cranberry juice. Heading for the shed with a bowl of blackwoods flake in a legend cob.
Thinking about making a pot of Russian soup called schee. Prounounced like it looks. Cabbage soup with meat.
Temp here is 92 feels like 102. Yup heading for the shed.
