soon to be Schwan #458 on indoor GeoForeman grill. 6mins at 300f = medium. Usual fixings, side of Musselman's smooth applesauce. Store brand cookies & tea later with Jeopardy. Food-wise, keeping it simple as possible. No stove-top cooking in yrs now. Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY I noticed you rely on George's grill. That seems to work very well.

I will be taking the chuck roast out of the sous vide in a few minutes. Pre-chared it then bagged it with butter, onion, garlic, rosemary and tarragon. 20 hours should do it. Headed to East Texas this weekend so looking forward to eating at Sylvia Mae's Soul Food! 😁😎🤠

usual late Fri afternoon fare. After groceries put away, back to diner across from grocery store, bring home pair of fishie fries. No idea yet what our two sides will be. Under $20 including generous tip for the works. Have a good sups all of ya in Eastern.

Got one of Marie's pot pies in the oven...usually tasty and since we use paper plates, clean up is dumping it in the trash...easy peezy!

Heading over to a neighbor's this evening for either Chile Rellano or Chile Verde. His wife says one thing and my other know-it-all neighbor who also is invited insists we will be having the other. Either way, I cannot loose as all I have to do is show up with a bottle of the chef's favorite wine. Even though he makes a big-a deal-a of being an Italian American from St. Louis, his favorite wine is from Spain. I consider that far sighted and ecumenical of him.

Turned out to be Chicken Chile Verde with sides of Spanish Rice and pinto beans, homemade tortillas. Also present at table were three elderly fisherman from Texas from the San Antonio, Austin vicinity. They also appreciated this dish. Desert was a homemade canoli and it was great. Ate way too much and am feeling it today.

I think the beef pie is my favorite followed by Turkey. I am quite happy to enjoy one of Marie's Turkey pies, a large one, on Thanksgiving. I can also get a side of Bob Evans prepared stuffing and I am happy. I am just not in to all the work fuss and clean-up of the holidays. It is so utterly thankless.

That's the place. We were the only ones there today at 5pm. She gets a lot of publicity, but the people in the area don't support her. Only people passing through who have seen her on TV or in a magazine. She's supposed to be in the next issue of Country Living, she said. She's in a poor neighborhood between two state highways. If she put up a couple of signs on the highways I think she would get more business. She's worried that she might not be able to stay open after this year. She is so sweet and we laugh with her the whole time. Old AC units make a lot of noise and don't cool that well, but you don't notice once you start eating.

That is some menu. I am glad not be there as it would have been something like this when ordering: "My wife will have the Chicken Fried Chicken, a Smothered Pork Chop and Liver & Onions with peas, greens, yams and mashed potatoes...... I will have the same."

Sylvia Mae's not being within range, I reheated one of those charcoal grilled arm steaks from a couple of nights ago. The side was a nice melange prepared by Birdseye of brown rice, barley, garbanzo beans, carrots, sweet potatoes and spinach. I dressed it up with Indian Garlic chutney.

Smothered ? Is that some kind of sauce ? Smothered is covered in gravy, usually simmered in the gravy for a hour or two. The smothered pork chops literally melt in your mouth.
