So trailboss has been threatening to send me tobacco if I ask for a long time, and now that I'm earning and not a leech, I said yes. The package just arrived It's a long damn time between reading Out For Delivery and the time the mailman finally shows up. Here's the pic: That's a double tin of Christmas Cheer, Smoker's Haven Best Blend, a couple tins of C&D Small Batch, one Carolina Red Flake and I can't read the other one, a very special and precious mason jar of HH Vintage Syrian, Aylesbury Luxury Flake, Erinmore Flake, a double tin of Orlik Golden Sliced, and the famous Escudo. Also, a little box of Gawith Snuff! What he didn't know was the Erinmore, Orlik and especially Escudo, are some of my favorite smokes, and the Vintage Syrian might just be my favorite of all-time That was a real gift, too, ain't no more imports coming from Syria. The rest I haven't tried, though I've been wanting to try Aylesbury Luxury Flake. Oh, and a packet of pipe cleaners; can't smoke without those. Flakes are my favorite kind of tobaccos, because you have to screw with them before you can smoke 'em. After a very difficult decision, think I'm done working for the day, and going with a glass of bottom shelf blended American whiskey Kessler (which is actually not bad), and the Aylesbury Flake in my Group 4 Dunhill Cumberland Canadian. Next post I make I won't be sober Thanks boss!

PS Had to look up the snuff to make sure I knew how to do it and yes, a small pinch in the web of your hand between your thumb and forefinger, and snort it like you're Stevie Nicks.

PM I just got from Charlie: By the way...Smokers haven "Our best blend" is a product that they release only when they can get the components that meet their standards, it is never advertised, only people on the mailing list get the heads up...it is suppose to be a faithful reproduction of the original balkan sobrani....I don'tknow if it meets the hype factor but that is the story on that. That certainly doesn't sound like it sucks; guess I know what the second bowl is going to be!

Ok, the Aylesbury Flake might be a bit moist; I'm going to leave it in the Dunnie for a bit, so I had to try the snuff. Ten minutes trying to figure out how to get in the little box, and snorted a teeny little pinch. shite, that burns. Ow ow ow ow ow ow! Smells like pure menthol. As soon as it quits burning ow, I'll tell you if I like it.
Well, it's like I just inhaled an entire stick of deodorant. It's kind of exciting. Strong stuff though, next pinch will be smaller! Thanks trailboss, that was fun.

Ok, my snoot has almost quit burning, so I'm doing the Aylesbury Flake. It's way more mild than I was expecting, and I really like it. It's straight Virginias, which I like, but doesn't taste sweet or hay-like to me, but more like brown. Yeah, I suck at reviews, so I'm going to shamelessly plagiarize Jiminks: "The Virginias are grassy and hay-like with a mild earthiness. I detect a minor honey note along with plenty of sweet citrus. The nic-hit is mild. The flakes break apart with ease, allowing the smoker to fill the bowl to their preference. Burns well once you get it lit, but it seems to take a few lights at first. Smokes cool and smooth with a consistent flavor, though it's possible to get a light cigarette note if you puff like a steam engine. No bite, no dottle or hardly any moisture left in the bowl. Not a complex product by any means, but makes for a very comfortable, flavorful all day smoke." Yeah, that's what I meant: brown. Ow. Damn snuff. (it was fun though)

Well, now that I'm a one-hit snuff professional, I can give you new snuff users some advice: make it smaller. Then make it smaller. Then make it smaller. When you think you've made it too small, make it smaller. If you've ever had the desire to insert an entire stick of menthol underarm deodorant up your nose, and you have a high pain tolerance, I can heartily recommend Gawith's snuff. It was exciting though Ow.

Dave I hope you enjoy the smoke. Charlie ( Trailboss) is a good man. Now that snuf stuff a half pinch will go a long way and than some. As an old friend told me about Stevia ( plant sugar) take a tooth pick and stick it in the box, pull out toothpick, knock off excess use what is left. I thought he was crazy didn't do it. The drink was so sweet I couldn't drink it. So I suggest taking an 8 penny nail flatten one end and use that to dip the snuf.
Congrats John R

Next post I make I won't be sober Thanks boss! That Carolina Red Flake is a real unicorn now. Make sure when you pop the tin you take out the paper insert and set the whole tin out to dry fairly thoroughly. It will most likely mold on you after a couple weeks opened if you don't dry it. That was a really fantastic gesture on Charlie's part, and cograts again on the job.

Yeah, I'll try that. Thanks John! Alright, going to do that now p120. This was not your average CARE pack. Ok, unicorn tin is on a paper towel on a shelf in my tobacco cupboard. Guess I'll be smoking that soon; it smells wonderful. Trust Charlie to send me unicorn tobacco, unadvertised secret tobacco, and a princely gift of unobtainable Syrian tobacco. Thanks boss

Want to share a memory and dedicate a song to Charlie. In the other thread I have been sharing music (bored with TV right now) that means stuff to me. This song is from a Broadway play that my dad took me to when it came to Saint Louis. Dad is now a 91 yo Vet. The play was around 1975 and starred the Andrews Sisters. The play has been reproduced recently, but back in the day dad and I saw it was one of the last times the Andrews Sisters were together. In that play were people you never heard of before: Treat Williams, Marily Henner, and John Travolta. Dad and I used to go to the theatre annually for one thing or another. I have had the soundtrack to this song for decades. This song really grooves and is called Charlie's Place. I really hope everyone listens to it, not so much to comment, but to enjoy... and think nice thoughts David from Texas and Charlie.

[>€£]begin zack encryption[<] Thanks a lot.... the people at C&D haven't found anyone crazy enough to smoke moldy tobacco so as to find out how it reacts on humans... David is a test subject, we had it all worked out with University of Texas medical research center[>€£]end zack encryption[<]
Glad you like them blends David, that menthol snuff might be a bit overwhelming, in hindsight probably should have sent Kendall brown or something like that.

What the hell Charlie? Euro, pound sign, and zack encryption doesn't google. Hmm. Nah, the menthol snuff is cool, I think I'm now addicted and would like to start mainlining heroin. I opened the secret tobacco, but it's really moist, so it's open and drying. I went with the famous Escudo for the second bowl. Damn, that stuff is tasty. Thanks boss

RE: Snuff. I was surprised that some of the guys I worked with used Snuff. I used to (as a teen) do it in the classical way, which I think you are doing. Most of these guys would buy Snuff, but call it Dip, letting it soak in their cheeks. Couldn't chew it, as it was close to powder, but you could let it juice up.

simnettpratt -don't snort, sniff! It ain't coke, homes. Basically, you want to get it into your nostril and just past - not behind your eyeballs and into your throat, and then into your stomach. You'll enjoy it more and won't risk health issues as much (nicotine-saliva juice in the stomach is not good).

Great selection and good on you Charlie! The generosity amongst pipe smokers never ceases to amaze me. To tell the truth, I would most probably not still be smoking a pipe out here on the Dark Continent, were it not for the generosity of many pipe smokers, mainly from the USA.

Well, this secret tobacco is awesome. I left the tin opened overnight to dry it a bit (I like approaching crispy), and I can see what the hype on ye olde Balkan Sobranie is for. Doesn't taste like anything I've ever smoked, but it's balanced and flavorful. I ain't Jiminks. I'd recommend buying some, but apparently you can't unless you know someone in the 'in crowd'.
(I've found another advantage to working from home. When you get tired of the menthol snuff, you can just pick your nose and dig that shite out! Sorry for that everyone; very sorry, bad Dave)

Especially when you start taking a lot of it, you really need to blow your nose often.

That's how dip came about, actually from old women in the southern US. My great grandma in Missouri would buy the huge tubs of sweet dental snuff and fill her mouth with it all day long. Always had snuff running down her lip. US Southern women mostly would take nasal snuff and dip it, after some time brands like Copenhagen developed really fine chew to work like the powdered snuff but far more controllable. Interesting stuff.
