Cary Grant would have been a great Bond.

Tough one. I'd have to go with Roger Moore over Connery(but just). I think it had to do with the order I saw the films in. Favourite film is probably Man With the Golden Gun. I love most of them though- Even the Dalton films. Pierce was also really great in Golden Eye. He was instantly Bond to me in that film. The subsequent films trailed off though. I think Blase' is the term I'm looking for.

Cary Grant would have been a great Bond. Grant was asked to play Bond in Dr. No, and he said he would, but he also said he'd only play Bond once, so declined the role. The producers wanted somebody who would commit to the series.

Roger Moore was great as "The Saint." Very cool free TV; however, Sean Connery was probably the best English speaking Bond - Shaken, not stirred. Wait - was there a non-English speaking Bond?

"Jimmy" Bond in the 1950s show, Climax. Adam West was asked to play Bond, but he wisely turned it down, and George Lazenby got the part.

Now that would have been pretty funny. Almost as bad as William Shatner playing Bond. I'll have to watch this later. Thanks for the link, looks like fun.

Very, Very, easily Connery and From Russia With Love. Connery has a lot of great ones, however.
Worst is, IMO (I agree with you) Moonraker, but there are a number of "worst" Bond movies, IMO. None of them include Sean Connery, however.
I do like Goldeneye with Pierce Brosnan is a good one, and Casino Royale ain't bad too. I was never fond of Roger Moore as Bond (God rest his soul).

You guys think Moonraker is worse than View to a Kill? Granted, it's been a while since I've seen either but when I was a kid I thought Moonraker was pretty cool.

I got sick of the Jaws character and his silly girl friend was a dumb idea. Half the movie was a cartoon portrayal of the Bond franchise. It was decent when I first saw in first release, but didn't hold up in repeat viewings for me. A View to a Kill is poorly written in too many spots, and Tanya Roberts was boring.

Given the last examples and the modern trend to reduce movies to the level of comic books, I nominate Paul (Pee-wee Herman) Reubens as the next James Bond.
