trailboss Gave me the idea for this thread. I will start another one on other subscription services, but since Brit TV is unique here I thought it deserved its own. Acorn.TV an Britbox.com are the two I know of. Acorn can be had as an add-on to Amazon Prime. I would rather pay for each one's website and their apps. One thing I noticed was that Acorn dropped some of their shows and lo and behold they turned up on Britbox. Not being one to complain... well, not too much, I just subscribed to both. It's late but I wanted to mention the current movie I am watching: Still Life - A Three Pines Mystery. It grabbed me immediately with Canadian Fall season scenery, colors I cannot get out to see. Very interesting from the get go. It's on Acorn, as are Agatha Raisin and Hamish Macbeth, two humourous (note my fancy British spelling) detective series based on M. C. Beaton's novels. Other recommendations to follow. Hopefully, you will add some of your faves here to discuss.

Actually, I think you'll find that whilst "humour" is indubitably correct, the British drop the "u" for "humorous". Why it's not the same with colour and colourful I have no idea.

BTW, "Actually, I think you'll find" is one of my favourite pompous British expressions.
But on topic, we have Roku and no terrestrial or cable. Between Neflix and Prime, we're pretty good with most of what we want to watch. We very rarely pay to stream a particular movie. The problem with Prime, though, is quality control. Some of their old movies are unwatchable because of poor sound and picture.

I am an Acorn subscriber as well. Signed up via my Roku account and used their app.

One thing to check out on Acorn is Lovejoy. It's cheeky, and if you're into antiques it's pretty interesting. I watched the end of that Three Pines Mystery on Acorn last night. Really good

I would mention the shows we have njoyed on Acorn but frankly, there are too many...and I typically only watch tv on weekends....as i said in another thread, after i get back from a trip, I am going to take advantage of the 7 day free trial of britbox, i am sure that I will be a subscriber in short order...pretty excited to be able to watch the Granada series with Jeremy Brett playing Sherlock!

I'm going to try that, too. I've never seen the Brett Holmes, but have heard good things about it. Sounds like a good Christmas time binge show.

Brett and the second Watson, Edward Hardwicke, was the best. It was also the writing's faithfulness to the style of the story if not totally true to story.
Shout out to Christopher Plummer and James Mason in Murder by Decree

Hit my Britbox tab tonight. Great three episode series, 90 minutes each. Watched the first one tonight. Story complete, but does lead into the next one. Title is Quirke: Gabriel Byrne and Michael Gambon. Byrne is a pathologist in 1950s Ireland. Pretty gripping. He seems to love getting beaten up like he did in Miller's Crossing. Perfect period scenery.
Now time to sleep to ten eppies of Ancient Aliens
