OK, here is the other one where I hope we can bring up what shows and thoughts on channels come up. Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix. One that I (again) go to the website to sub to is curiositystream.com It is a science documentary channel that has tons of films, though many short. Amazon wants 5 or 6$ a month for it. On the site itself you can sub for that or regular resolution for only 2.99 a month. I may not watch it for a month, but then I binge as I did last night, going to sleep with all sorts of cosmic (expect no less from CosmicBobo) stuff. I am on Am Prime and they do have other channels, which I hope are brought up here, so I don't miss anything. First Season of Man in High Castle was great, but could not get into a second one. Prime is nice in that they have many cheapo SciFi movies from the fifties that I love included. Okay, I have to go back to Three Pines, but I hope we can get some stuff started here. billyklubb mentioned Red Dwarf, something I need to look into

We are on antenna only but I can pull in about 30 or so channels. We tried Netflix but gave it up after binge watching a few things. Years ago I built a home media center and have a ton of movies stored. I also have a really old Diamond TV card that lets me capture what I am watching. I have heard good things about Hulu, Fire Stick but alas I have no first hand knowledge of them. Just about any dual core desktop can play movies and storage is cheap enough my video card is a old GTX560 and it can do HDMI so one cable only for sound and video to Tv. Most two hour movies are 2gb some as big as 4gb. One hour shows are very small. Sorry not really on topic but a option to consider.

You sound like me. I have over a thousand DVD's. Local TV with a HD conversion box gives about thirty channels, like 2.1 2.2 and on. Our PBS has four channels 9.1-9.4. The retro channels show much better than the retrocrap TV Land and Nick TV show. This stuff could be discussed here too, as you can see old shows like 12 O'Clock High, Perry Mason, Route 66.

I've survived on only antenna TV for decades; however, I'm now giving Hulu a try for college sports and TVG. It appears to work fine so far. You may have to watch your data usage. ATT severely chokes down hot spotting after 10 gigs, Verizon 15 gigs with their unlimited data packages which doesn't do me any favors. I have a 25 GB data and hot spot package with ATT and just have to chose my spots right now. No worries with a two minute horse race but a four hour football game can kill 4 GB in one sitting.

You just mentioned one of the reasons I started this. I didn't know Hulu had college sports. I had Hulu a few times, but opted for other services. With all the additions ton Antenna TV that should make me happy. I love Travel and Cooking shows. I still love all my Alaska reality stuff. Mountain Men, Yukon Men. Those I buy from video on demand sources.

I use Prime, Netflix, Acorn and PUBDHUB Gold. True Hulu twice, but its emphasis seemed to be modern TV and it was not Roku friendly, the interface being somewhat clumsy.

Thanks for that pubdhub! Never heard of it. Even though I have tons of PDomain stuff, this looks great

+1 on PubDHub - I forgot all about it.
We tried Warner Archive for a while and it was okay for a month or two, but very limited and they don't seem to add or change much over time. I wish TCM would do a Roku channel.

Agree on Warner and TCM. There is so much stuff Warner could put on but doesn't and you can run through it in a month

yeah, sure did that. How can one argue? A twitter wannabe start up has two levels: Free and 5.99/month. What part of 72$/year sounds appetizing? If that were the only thing you did all month, maybe. I think they would more money at 10$/year. They would have gotten my money

I have absolutely no problem with HULU on either Roku of mine. We ditched the cable a long time ago, I got tired of paying Directtv for so much content that I never used. We got an over the air antenna, but it isn't optimal, I am going to hire a professional to climb on the second story and install a better antenna...either on the roof, or in the attic. I have two smart tv's, but I use ROKU as it allows you to add whatever app you want, Sony and Samsung give you whatever apps they want you to have. And, the ROKU can be packed away and used in a tv on vacation provided the hotel has wi-fi. If you want to save a few bucks with other trusted family friends and/ or family members, one can pay for Hulu, one can pay for Netflix, one can pay for ____ and share the service. Some services have a limit on the amount of devices so you would want to have an agreement that not everyone's cellphone or tablet should be used. I have never done it myself, but some guys from work have gotten the Amazon Firestick, find a guy on Craigslist that can modify it for $60?, and they get tons of paid programming for free.
