Happy to report that "Highway Patrol", my favorite TV series from the 1950s is back on the air via ME TV (Memorable Entertainment Television out of Chicago).
That's right, Chief Dan Matthews, aka Broderick Crawford, is 10-4 and on the job. Look out perps, punks and bad drivers. "Leave your blood at the Red Cross and not on the highway."
1955 Buick Century roadsters, red spotlights, Eight Point Caps and and K-38s.

One of my faves too, along with Rod Cameron in State Trooper and Coronado 9

Never had the pleasure of watching it. Have always wanted to. Set to record. Thanks for the heads-up Tosh!

When seasons 2-4 came out you could get them for 10-15$ each, but the first season was/is over 50$. Since it was Public Domain I bought a set of season 1 for about 10$, after getting some cruddy copies.
Thing I like about the show is the driving around California outer roads, which look remarkably like rural roads here. Reminds me of the days (as a young punk) when you'd get PO'd at something, grab a bottle, a couple packs of smokes, and hit the road.

Back then, that assertion would never be challenged, it is just plain common sense... but then again, more people smoked pipes back then.

I just finished Season 3, which I bought at Hamilton Books for under $10.00 - It is a period piece and the cars, locales etc. are a real view into the past. The storylines tend to be weak and if the episode gets caught in a corner, Broderick Crawford just whips out his .38 and blows the perp away. Nonetheless it has its own charm, capably carried on the shoulders of a solid pro, in regards to Broderick Crawford.

No one could spit out dialogue at his pace. I noticed that Quinn Martin was the Sound guy. He went on in the 1960s to Produce "The FBI" another corny but interesting piece of Americana.

Quinn Martin went on to be a very successful Producer, the Fugitive, being one of his biggest successes.
