Stumbled on this at a flea market over in Collingswood, NJ yesterday. I saw it from about 50 yards away and knew what it was immediately. I rushed over and was shocked to see a price sticker of only $18. Having no interest in telling the booth owner that this was probably priced ridiculously low, I forked over the cash and made off with my prize. It's in pretty damn good shape and I haven't take in for a test drive yet, but I'm thrilled that I found one of these. Trying to do some research on the company, but most of what I have found online is eBay listings, etc.

I've seen them come available once in a while. Let us know how it performs.

Yo Jus
Cool dat! Let me know when you want to try to slice some plugs. I have a bunch. Maybe we can have a Morley's showdown 'tween an Ulu and a plug cutter?

Most of these are hard to track down because tobacco was so pervasive in society that everyone and his brother were making plug cutters to supply all the hardware/mercantile and ma&pa stores.

Over the course of the last year, I have seen quite a few plug cutters on the market, on different auction sites...The blade might wear down, but them things will last forever.

Wow, that's a major find and for no money. I've seen those sell for well over $100. Congrats and watch your fingers.

Incredibly cool find, Sparks! Great price too. Antique, industrial implements like that are so popular as decorative art, that you'd have thought someone would have snatched it up even if they weren't into tobacciana.

So, the other day I found my jar of University Flake empty. I tend to like my Uni Flake almost cube cut, so I figured it was high time to try this gadget out. I popped a fresh tin and got to work.
I started with about 4 flakes stacked up. Let me tell you, it was like slicing soft butter. Quick and clean. I think it took me all of about 3 minutes to cut up the whole 50 g. tin and no hand cramps from doing it with scissors.
Good find indeed.

Good to hear, Justin. There is something satisfying and so right about putting classic old tools back to work. I enjoy thinking about who may have used something like that over the years.

I stopped by an Anitques store in Strasburg, PA the other day. They had 2 plug cutters. One for $110 and the other for $145. You can get them considerably cheaper on ebay (but not for $18.00).
I did pick up a Savenelli Oom Paul pipe for $5.00 though.
