One of the reasons I don't often post about English or Non-Aros is because they are all similar. In an aro, peaches and cream is nothing like maple.
I do like Nightcap and Aperitif and I can tell the difference. GLP Quiet Nights does have a unique flavor. I am sure Penzance does as well.
Yet, for 25$ a pound Holiday Match seems like a winner. It's listed as a non-aro, but it hits all the English points + Perique. None of the flavors is overbearing. All nice and balanced. Medium nic hit. I like it enough that it will be on my non-aro English list for those moments when I feel like one.
I smoked it right out of the pouch in my Ebeneezer Rhodesian and I was very satisfied.
Moral to the story: Don't be afraid to save a buck. I know y'all don't want to hear that... so just miss out on my free wisdom

I just got a pound in the mail from SP last week but haven't smoked any of it yet. Glad to hear you like it; I probably will too. They had the Sutliff bulks on sale; I also got Match Revelation, Match Ready Rubbed, and Match 965.

I think calling this blend an English is setting English lovers up for disappointment. All I get from this blend is some Virginia, lots of Burley, and it is certainly an Aro. At least what I bought is. It has that basic Juicy Fruit flavour. I got a few of the last ounces smoking pipes had, so maybe it was really mellowed by then because I couldn't taste Latakia at all. I like that they used the Cavendish sparingly in the blend, so it is nice and dry, yet still has just enough of the flavour. In my opinion, that is where I notice the Lat, if at all- piggy-backing the smooth sensation of the cav. Maybe guys like you who smoke less Latakia than I do on average can pick it up, but I thought this was nothing more than a Burley Aro when I smoked it. I'm not complaining, I loved it. I wanna fill a huge pick jar with the stuff when it's back in stock. haha

Okay, we have a problem here. You must have a ghosted pipe or wrongly labeled tobacco. I catch no sweetness, though I won't deny there is some. To me, it is English Lite. It hits all the notes. However, I would have to take your love of Dunhill into consideration, as I am certainly no expert and only a casual visitor to that planet.
One thing I have learned is never to buy less than four ounces of tobacco. Maybe too much air time. Dunno.
Though we may not agree I will defend your right to say what you wish with BillyKlubb's life

This is one blend I have always enjoyed, the tin art I believe is what first drew me to it.

I've been smoking this throughout last week and it's, to my mind, definitely an aromatic. My brother went so far as to compare the room note to hookah tobacco.

It is a sweet one. A bit sweeter than Lane's Holiday Excursion, and amazing in a cob!

I've been looking for an inexpensive burley all-day smoke and decided to try Match Holiday (totally based on the old tin art,) which I rather liked but for a a few things; after smoking it in public I might have to try one of the Edgeworth Ready Rubbed alternatives (I've hear that the Milan version is better than Lane's and Sutliff's) instead!

Good, but not any better than most of my other mixes. As to RR, Jim of INKS (International Nefarious Killing Squad) Fame says the Sutliff has the edge, though Lane's has improved. Sutliff is fine. I have yet to try the Lane.

I've been consistently impressed with Sutliff's aros, and English-aro crossovers (like Burma Road, Academy, etc.). I think they're much better than they usually get credit for, and to my tastes are the best of the big blending houses. Anything described as Juicy Fruit and latakia definitely sounds worth a try!

I don’t know if Uhle’s, (414) 273-6665, will ship to Mexico City; however, their 00 is an excellent, inexpensive all day burley smoke.

I'll start off by saying once again how good this stuff is. I assume the original Holiday is an old school OTC baccy? Also, maybe the Latakia is gone because I bought the last 4 Oz they had on hand. I can taste the Lat only when I think about it. If I smoked this blind I may or may not ask if it contained any. There is a sweetness too. Not as pronounced as CH, but something. Whatever it is, I really like the blend. Not quite desert island blend, but if I was a cowhand on a drive, I wouldn't mind smoking nothing but this for a month or so.

I looked at their website, the store's lounge looks pretty ritzy. I'll keep them in mind if I ever get a reason to visit Milwaukee. Thanks for the tip on 00, the store employee told me they don't do international orders..

Honestly what bugs me about Holiday more than anything is the cut (doesn't seem to pack well or light well for me). I'll see about scoring some Sutliff ERR match and then see where I stand.

I packed mine into a narrow chambered cob, one of cobs' biggest drawbacks. That wasn't easy, but nothing abnormal. It took a few matches to light, but then stayed lit. Holiday, that is. I have not smoked one next to the other, but I think Distinguished Gentleman is of a similar vein, but much more velvety taste. JimInks likes my posts because I tell him to
