She was an actress, great singer, and a talk show host. I can find little about the talk show. IMDB only shows 14 episodes. I thought Sandy Baron was co-host, but that is incomplete as well. I remember watching this show when I was a kid. During the daytime there was a talk show (having a brain fart on this one) that was replaced by the Woody Woodbury show. Then it was The Donald O'Conner show (nice, but not as cool as Woody). Then came Della. Classy, great guests. Since it was a talk show she may have been the first African-American with a national talk show. Either way, whenever I hear someone mention Della my ears perk up. Rest gently, sweet lady

Rest gently, sweet lady I've read that all episodes of her show are considered lost (along with most of RKOs TV productions) so anything related to her show, which was the first hosted by an African-American woman, is likely to be valuable even if they are memories.

Thank you for that info. IMDB only shows 14 episodes, which means her show lasted less than three weeks. IMDB is still not a complete work. I grew up with my parents and grandparents listening to horrible music shows, all of which I long for. Funny that as young as I was I still loved listening to Della. It would be important to know if Sandy Baron was a co-host as that would make her spot in history that more poignant... an African American Woman Talk Show Host with a White American Co-Host. At that time I never even thought twice about that. It was just a groovy show. She was class. Sandy was cool

That is a classic video. Just watched it this morning. There is an interview with Della describing how poorly Redd Foxx was treated by producers of "The Royal Family" and the events on set that may have hastened his passing. His health was not great and he was a regular cocaine user. Tragic.
