20F and sunny this morning. Last night before bed I put some Esoterica Dunbar in my Savinelli 2000 POY - Wow! The Dunbar and Dry System pipe with a 6mm balsa filter were one incredible smoke, mindless all the way to the bottom with one tamp. Good stuff.
Starting out this morning with 2013 Cornell & Diehl Exhausted Rooster in a 2001 silver banded Peterson 999 Rhodesion with a P-lip stem, drinking hot black coffee and listening to the Saturday morning edition of Horse Racing Radio Network. Somber morning in the horse racing world as over 40 horses perished in the California wildfires at San Luis Rey training center yesterday.

Sad story about the horses there, Mark. Last bowl of EGR in MM Legend at work, before the drive home... Definitely, incredibly sad on so many accounts. It's difficult to explain to people who've never been associated with these animals how this could happen. Unfortunately, there's only so much people can do in these horrific circumstances. In most instances, despite heroic efforts by people on site to save them, the horses are in a panic, won't take direction or help themselves in any way. It's really miraculous as any many were saved as were in most cases by simply turning them loose which is extremely risky for the animals and a last resort. Some still have't been located.

Geez oh Pete! we went out after the Christmas party since the boys stayed over at their grandparents. we stayed up too late and drank too much. I smoked Escudo and Irish Oak all night. ate some bacon & cheddar cheese curls, but they tasted kinda like pork & beans. I liked them, it was just different. company did recognize my 5 years of service though! slept in until 9:30. little bit of a headache, but not hungover. first smoke of the day is gonna be MacB Navy Flake.

Every couple of years It's time to upgrade our families phones. This year is the year.
As many of you know, I'm a CSOB, and will not pay $1000 for the latest and greatest orgasmiphone that's out. This year is no different.
We had the iPhone 5S's and the free upgrade (2 year contract extension) was to 6S's. Three hours last night on the phone with apple, software issues on old phone backup.
Three hours today on Blondies phone. Kids had no issues. Less than 1 hour on theirs (go figure).
What does this have to do with What I'm smokin? Well through it all my Briars and Baccy have been keepin me sane. Today it's Quiet Nights in a Calebrisi Bent Apple Freehand Danish lookin pipe.

I went to bed watching Scrooge movies on TMC. I just sat down with a morning pipeful of Captain Black and turned on the TV and the first thing I see is Edward Robinson's grinning mug! I knew who he was instantly from Jim's pic. haha The film is Larceny, Inc. That's a fun movie. I DVR'd it, and will watch it later. Just finished smoking Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem on this snowy day.

Woke up early, took the daily prescription meds, and went back to sleep until 10 (a.m.), which is almost unique in my experience of late. A breakfast of a Panera bagel and half a slice of Panera cinnamon cake, eventually followed by a tobacco order that I just found on my doorstep. It must have been left during my sleep by the good tobacco fairy. Lane HGL in the Barling Flat Bent 5639 TVF Early Transition, a pipe reserved for aros.

2nd morning with Bullet waking up in his new home. Even though we call him Bullet, I think it takes a day or so to recognize strangers saying it. He loves his stuff toy and I have 18 tennis balls coming today. We weren't even sure he could bark, but did let us know the mailgirl was here yesterday and today. I have always said I would never trust an animal with a child as accidents can happen. I have scars to prove it. However, Bullet is so calm and silent I have no doubt he would be great with anyone.
I'm smoking (only second time) Mixture 79 Cherry Brandy in an MM Great Dane Bent Spool. This is pretty good. The minor sting it has is from the brandy. Not a real sting, just part of the flavor. Minor cherry, but it is there.

Lunch was a broiled strip streak from the green meat section topped with sriracha sauce, sauteed mushrooms and red onions with a side salad. Getting ready to spark Solani 660 Silver Flake in a smooth 1/8th bent 2013 Savinelli Collection volcano, drinking ice tea with lemon in front of the wood burning stove and ready for some old school football this afternoon, Army v. Navy.

Just back from the Tobacconists. I missed the monthly meeting of the Pittsburgh Pipe Club, but still got 10% off on a pound of Dunbar! I hanged around and blew smnoke with some guys there and one even gave me a bag of his favourite Esoterica blend(Cardiff) to try. He said tobacco was for sharing. I really liked that sentiment, so I bought him one of my favourite cigars on my way out. About to put the kettle on and take this Cardiff for a spin in my Savinelli Dolomiti billiard. Cheers!
