Smoking some SPRT in an MM Mark Twain. Then it's some SG Sam's Flake in a John Cotton Belge. I posted that I was finishing up a bowl of Lane's Medal of Valor last night, but I meant Medal of Honor. I have both, and both are similar. I'd probably give the nod to Medal of Valor, but it's a real tough call. After the John Cotton Belge full of Sam's Flake, it should be some Sutliff Hickory Match in an MM Freehand. How's everyone doing this Saturday morning/afternoon? Well. I'll get it right the third time! I meant to say Lane's CROWN ACHIEVEMENT. Boy. I went to bed at 5am and got up at 8am this morning. I have no idea what I was saying.

Reiner Professional (Copper Label)... Boy Oh boy, this thread sure has grown quickly over the last few months! I agree with David. This is a good way to get to know people, and as I am always curious about what people smoke, it's my favorite thread. This internet cafe is the next best thing to having a pipe shop to lounge around with other pipers. Wish more would join this great group of friends and post smokes. Now smoking 2000 Friedman & Pease Inverness in a 2002 Ser Jacopo Delecta Fatta A Mano R1 sandblast Rhodesian with a smooth extension at the shank with a black acrylic stem.

This thread especially works for me, as it is almost as dynamic as chatting, yet I am not tied to a screen. I have been on the Net so long that my days of being able to pay attention to one thing are gone. I am constantly hopping around from tab to tab. It's easy to check this thread and post and run and come back to. No one complains if you do what I did earlier, which was provide some long answers when asked a question. Like I'm doing now. Carnac the Magnificent is telling my I have some Butternut Burley or maybe J4 Burley in my near future

I just finished an MM Freehand full of Sutliff Match Hickory. kind of the first Sutliff match blend that's not really much of a match in flavor. In a large bowl, I get more of just a nondescript artificial sweetness, and about half way into a bowl it starts tasting like a sweet berry flavor and aroma. I went and reviewed it finally and notice that JimInks also noted a fruitiness to it. Side by side, I definitely get a smooth sweet flavor in the Middleton's Hickory, but certainly no fruity berry flavor. It's worth a try, but anything flavored like this is very cloying and over the top for me. Thank you again David for sending me the samples. I've nearly worked my way through them, I'll review the rest asap. Had to rehydrate the one and a half SG Sam's Flakes, but should have that in the Belge within the hour.

Earlier I smoked H&h el nino in a full bent falcon with a pot bowl. Finished it after we got the mower started. While mowing I lit and completed a parodi anisette which was anise from first light to last puff pretty good smoke that I'll have again. Mowing the lawn on dec 2 in michigan is a bit silly. It was 50 when I started at 330 and as the sun closed on the horizon the temp dropped with it. Now drinking cocoa and warming up the body.

I note that Jim's review says it is "not a close match", which most of the matches are like. Often an improvement. I consider Hickory a sideways move. I do get the hickory and almost a little fruit wine, which is pleasing enough to keep me from paying extra bucks for original Hickory. Most of my thinking from this point out is to buy bulk if I like an item. The only vintage I will keep up with is the 1936 Briggs. Here, though, Sutliff Briggs Match is more than a little close. Win Win for me

Win Win for me Agreed on their matches. In fact, their Edgeworth Ready Rubbed match is a bit better than Lane's real ERR and many people think so. Their Walnut match is very excellent as well. That 1936 Brigg's is a pure treat for that vintage. It tastes miles ahead of any flavored OTC you can buy today, IMO. Of course you know, I'm a spoilsport when it comes to aromatics.
