I don't think the mobile site has the emoji functions. I dont see most of them in posts or any option to use them in my posts. I post primarily from my phone as well, but when I have from the desktop the emojis are there and the option to use them is as well.

From my Ipgone I can access “desktop site” from my browser, it allows more functionality, but the screen size is a hindrance.
I like my laptop.

Thanks for the helpful replies above. Desktop mode on my phone did reveal a "Members" menu, but the Search function only gives me the following: "Could not connect to search server. Please try again." Emoji's still elude me.

Hey, Baboo. Just curious, do you generally just type and hit 'Quick Reply' at the bottom or do you hit the orange 'Reply' tab at the top-right of the box? The latter opens a more robust typing medium with emoji and many other options. Also,I believe you will need to be in'Desktop Mode' to have the option otherwise your particular smartphone's emoji will be your only option. On mine anyway. I have the newest Pixel.

A little ASUS Goggle based Chomebook can be had for less than $300US. It's a toy and not good for much except surfing but well worth the investment IMHO. 10" screen is much kinder to my aging eyes than the iPhone. I use my phone for a hot spot and don't get crushed on my data package like I do with the mambo Windows based computer. Emoji's are fully available.

I bought two refurbished ones on Amazon for $150 each. I keep one in the living room and one in the guest room.

There are certain items I do not include on the mobile site, mainly to keep it clean and clutter free. The member list is an example of that. Emojis are the same. When taking into consideration most people are using the mobile site with data through their cell provider, images and such will generally slow down the experience.
As Charlie said, the full site on your mobile device will give more functionality, but it's not going to be a very enjoyable experience as far as screen size.
