I just load a full bowl and light up. Some of the veterans used to tell me that brandy & honey was their preference or the 1/3 of a bowl at a time routine. Been doing it my way for decades with no bad results. ^^^ what he said +1. However I do retort and sea salt with VSOP Brandy |

When I was at the Connoisseur Shop buying an Ed Burak pipe, I asked him the same question. He said that if it's good wood that has been properly cured, just fill it and smoke it.
