I picked up two dublins and got a free calander, also used the "Cocoa" promo code

I should add that P&C gave me a $10 code for UPS's delay.

Anyone have experience with these, or with Stanwells in general? Seems like a damn good deal, and lots of shapes to choose from. I'm tempted by a few....
EDIT: just noticed the Brushed Black line is on sale for $40, so this is starting to look even better.

I have a couple of the Brushed Black pipes and they are both great smokers.
If my PAD / TAD weren't maxed out for this year, I'd grab a couple more.

I almost bought a Brushed Black. I have that 20$ P&C card burning a hole.. I had to remind myself, there will be pipes still in a couple months and maybe even a better deal.

I'm guessing the Brushed Browns are the same as the Brushed Blacks... only brown?

Regular price on the Brown is $50.00 and the Black @ $40.00. I examined them all and can't tell a difference, aside from color and why this would account for a $10.00 spread is beyond me. Typing in that code, does indeed show the Brown Brushed line at $19.99 each. One heck of a good deal. I had a $10.00 off code and ordered 3 pipes, which got me the Free Shipping. So for $49.95 I'll be getting a #32 Bulldog, a #95 bent Rhodesian and a classic #190 Billiard.
Thanks so much for posting this Matthew: +++++++++++++

I already spent my $10 on a tin of Scottish Woods, but I think I'm going to get a couple of these anyway. I'm eyeing the #86 and the #405, but there are a lot of nice shapes.

Yes, that got my attention too. Variety of shapes is usually limited on a barn burner sale like this, but I was pleasantly overwhelmed by the variety on offer. I only have 2 Stanwell pipes at present. 1 Danish and 1 Italian. I have enjoyed my Italian Silkebrun very much and am looking forward to these new arrivals.

Somebody over at BOTL just posted, "The cheap Stanwells smoke HOT, as in you can barely hold the bowl. I'll not make that mistake again..."
Anyone else have that experience? I think I'll order ones with thicker bowls, anyway.

Well, that's one pipers experience and opinion. Any briar can be made to smoke hot, if careless. I read all Black & Brown user reviews (over 70) and what convinced me, were those reviews from experienced pipers who were ordering again. Having ordered 3 pipes, I am obviously hoping for the best. I'll exercise reasonable care on break in, with the knowledge in mind, that the Italians do know a bit about pipe making.

Mike,That's a good answer. Not know the person who said their pipe smoked hot, I wasn't sure just what to say.I have a cheap Casillero that smokes great but have read reviews that are contrary to my expierience. So with that in mind I will be very careful of breaking in my new pipes. As they say "Slow and easy".

Congrats & Enjoy. At the sale price, I was not sure if they would be boxed and the stems monogrammed.

I only have one Stanwell, but I have several Scandias, which are their seconds. They are shaped and made just like the top line pipes, and are great smokers. Of course, all mine are made by the Norsemen, not the Italians. But the Italians make a great pipe too.

I almost went for that one but it looked kind of bulbous and out of proportion in the P&C photos. I may reconsider now! They have a lot of nice bent pipes of similar style.

On the segment titled “pipe question of the week” on the latest episode of Country Squire Radio, JD gives very complimentary remarks regarding current production Stanwell’s on their quality.

I ordered a #83. Bent billiard. It's a shape I wanted and I couldn't resist the price.
