I really don't eat chips but we are only 10 minutes from the Herrs potato chip factory so my wife goes there quite often. They have a big "Oops" rack of chip bags that were mislabeled or the ingredients are out of spec. The oops bags are dirt cheap too.
They offer tours of the plant. There is nothing better than hot chips right off the manufacturing line!

Charles Chip Ketchup Chip and Quake Chips, when they were still being made. Trader Joe's "Ode To A Potato Chip" won a national contest for "Best Potato Chip" last year, or maybe two years ago. I prefer homemade when they're slightly thicker cut and fried to a golden crisp.

I have heard that very best potato chips are only available from an institutional provider to prisons. I personally don't like potato chips that much.

Hard to beat homemade...I wonder which potatoes make the best chips?
I have delivered and picked up freight at Frito-Lay and saw them unloading the potato trucks...usually now you unhook the cab, I have seen where guys left stuff on the dash, drinks in the cupholder....probably be funny to leave a co-driver in the bunk.

This thread is totally disturbing as the list is too long.

They're not my favorite, but do deserve honorable mention. Way overpriced for what they are, but so are so many others!

I like Lays Staxx chips, but that plastic barrel packaging, makes one feel like an environmental criminal. Great taste and texture, but the plastic cylinder is just too irresponsible and wasteful, so won't be buying more.

I prefer pork rinds but in terms of potatos chips, Ruffles Verdes (cheese Ruffles) or Chips Morado (assorted hot pepper flavor) are my default choices; To be honest I'm much more of a sweet & sour/spicy candy guy.

Never would have guessed it! Now, I love Mexico City and the area, but I don't think that they are talking about Mexican prisons.

I miss those Mexican lollipops I used to get in El Paso. Watermelon lollipop and they were coated in chili powder.

I've got a box of tamarind candy covered in chili powder in the kitchen for munching.

In Ireland Tayto cheese and onion are the ones to beat...practically anyone who travels outside Ireland for a considerable length of time will have a care package of Tayto cheese and onion to make them feel at home.

None, I'm a corn chips guy. Tostitos round chips would be my choice of the prevalent brands.

Don't really care for chips these days but when I was a kid I loved Charlie's Chips and my favorite was a local chip brand called Troyer Farms.
I think Troyer sold out to some large company years ago and my wife says they are not as good post sale.

Sadly, potato chips, corn chips, french fries, onion rings are all of the past for me. Ditto milk shakes, soda pop, doughnuts and all such snacks. Life may be long but it can be dull.
