As some of you know, I often find myself smoking a pipe in the mancave while watching youtube videos and channels.
Caught this one today....

We watch it and think that sucks.
Law makers here probably watch and think its dumb. Dont banish them just add a 10 dollar metal tin tax.

The most concertinaing thing for me with this Derv is not only the despotic act of outlawing Tins, but the other heavy handed actions of their government. When he shared that it is now illegal to smoke a pipe in any structure within the country I was astonished. Long established pipe and cigar parlors have been shuttered. Nothing like the consequences of living in a society where mob rule is allowed to impose it's misguided beliefs an agendas down the throats of its citizens. Eerily Orwellian for sure.

That's unfortunate, as Hungary used to be relatively pipe smoker friendly. Guess their trying to cozy up to the EU and show them they are 'civilized' in an acceptable PC manner too.

Thanks for sharing this video with us Dino. Subscribed to the young mans YT channel for future information. I'm sure there are folks that believe that Europe is such a civilized and advanced Nation, and I'm sure that in some aspects of life, it could be true. If Hungary has a smoking ban inside any building/property structure, does this include your home, apartment, townhome, flat, etc.? A number of Countries have government controlled stores and have done so for many decades. Even in the United States, we have "dry states" where you can't purchase liquor or specialized stores that sell liquor, or you can't purchase liquor on a Sunday. Then again in some states, we have "drive-thru" liquor purchases I'm sorry to hear about this issue in Hungary. As a free individual, I cannot imagine going out on my back porch, for a walk in the woods, fishing out on the river, or trap shooting to smoke a pipe or cigar. Let alone inside my own home. I know here in the USA, taxation in its various forms, initiated by various state and Federal government officials, and some state tax propositions that have been voted into law by citizens, have placed a tight squeeze on local B&M owners, large online retailers, and the pipe smoking community. Just another reason to stay involved and vocal when someone try's to put the kibosh on our hobby!

A pox on all governments is my motto. I forget which sage I cabbaged that from, but it's appropriate.

Without getting too political, I agree that Orban has gone too far in many aspects and can only hope that the next electoral season provides more options than him and the Jobbik party.

IMO, denying anyone's right to smoke (by limiting what is available by limiting the type of packaging, or any other method) is absolutely wrong. Everyone knows this. I mean, the gentleman in the video is smoking in his car and absolutely not affecting anyone else. That is a fact. Anyone who denies differently is delusional.
Pipe (and other smokers) have rights too. If people say otherwise, that is also delusional, IMO.
That said, if there is a ban in tins, we all better buy our favorites now. I do find it hard to believe that tins are going away, but stranger things have happened.

A pox on all governments is my motto. I forget which sage I cabbaged that from, but it's appropriate. It's from Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, act 3 scene 1, though the line reads, "A plague o' both your houses", it is more often quoted as "A pox on both your houses." So glad I cellared when I did.
