They should raise the military age to 21 if they're going to do this!

Always depresses me when I read the news coming out of Texas. There is no "Texas" anymore.

So much feigned anger these days....
Smoke a bowl, relax, everything will be fine.

So much feigned anger these days.... Smoke a bowl, relax, everything will be fine. I am not “feigning” anything, and anger isn’t where I operate. In a world where bureaucrats and politicians play to the majority (who do not enjoy a fine cigar or pipe) at the expense of the individual that does, it bodes badly for us. I know a lot of people figure screw it, I have my cellar and enough to smoke for the rest of my life, let them do whatever they do, and quietly accept it, but I think that view is selfish. I am not saying that is the attitude of anyone here, but sadly that mindset is one of some pipe smokers. To appease an alligator by throwing him meat, only allows him to get stronger, and it will inevitably lead to $40 pouches of Captain Black if not pushed back against.

Charlie, politicians and bureaucrats are the least of our worries. We have much more to fear from the healthcare mafia; however, at the end of the day, I figure everything will work out one way or another. My cellar is good. No reason to get twisted in a gut.

So much craven denial these days, masquerading as optimistic, positive thinking... For me positive thinking is recognizing reality and facing it.

I don't know what the legal age is here but I live near a high school and I see kids hanging out smoking every day.

Always depresses me when I read the news coming out of Texas. There is no "Texas" anymore. It's all the idiots moving from California to get out from under the socialist politicians over there and then deciding they want Texas to be like California. You really want to be starting with the political shite again? We all know it never, ever ends well. You know we have a lot of progressive members here, and guys from California.

So are they idiots because they fled the evil totalitarian socialist regime, or simply because they're from California, or because they decided to live in Texas? Generalizing about entire groups of people almost never makes sense.

As for the political...regardless of party affilliation, if your representatives be they at the city, state, or federal level and oppose smokers rights, and they think that it is their job to tell you how you live, they should be opposed. Stay the hell out of my wallet and my smoking crib!

These laws.. Everything from over-taxing to the point of making tobacco unobtainable for some to insisting tobacco be packaged with those passive-aggressive warnings and pictures.
Maybe they should put pictures of morbidly obese people on potato chip bags or pictures of venereal diseases or starving orphans on condom wrappers, since we are obviously all morons that cannot be allowed our free will.

And there's no craziness in Texas legislation? I won't give examples because I don't want to hear anyone dismiss equal rights as "political correctness".

I have lived in California for 25 years, and I have lived in Texas 5 years...they are indeed worlds apart. I could write a huge essay on so much ridiculousness that took part in Ca., eventually I had to leave....the cops coddled criminals at my expense and put my family's life in danger. What took place in San Francisco when the five time deported killer, was let off scot free by the jury didn't surprise me...that culture has been around for a long time. When Terence Hallinan was the DA of San Francisco, a murdered victim had a one in four chance of ever seeing a successful prosecution of the killer. It was a great place when I moved there in 1980, by the time I left in 2005, it really turned into a shithole. Since then, I ventured there once more and almost had my brains stomped in the gutter.... www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=937590Needless to say, but since my mother in law and grandmother in law died off, I refuse to ever go to California for a vacation, or to visit her sister. The community I live in now, really has no signs of gang activity anywhere. www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/news/2017/12/06/this-valley-city-is-one-of-the-safest-in-america.html

The entire state of 40 million people is a shithole. Huh. There are plenty of communities in CA with no signs of gang activity, just as there are plenty in Texas with gang activity. There are shitholes in both states, and in every area of the country.

OK, folks; I've read enough of this thread to get the gist of what people think of some states. Let's remember that this is a pipe forum and nt Face the Nation. Therefore, I'm locking this thread so we can move on to more collegial matters.

Guys, I'm just going to add to what John has already said here. This is not a political forum, this isn't Sunday morning political TV. This is a pipe smoking community that is meant to focus on what unites us, not what divides us.
As for political correctness, however you view that term elsewhere, on this forum, consider it synonymous with courtesy.
This forum belongs to the ENTIRE community and as such I expect and require everyone to respect each and every member of this community. If you can't engage in a conversation without political rhetoric, then I recommend you scroll past it. This is not your soapbox.
