I thought I read somewhere recently that there was a brand of butane that seemed to be better than most. I cant seem to find it anywhere. Which butane do you all use and why?

I got a hundred disposables for fifteen bucks. Some don't work, but the price rocks. Only use them in emergency. Matches

I use fasfil or xikar. I avoid ronson like the plague. Anything over 3x refined is good though and much past 5x isnt really helpful.

It is the only brand stocked where I live. Its not refined as many times as the others. Each pass through gets more impurities removed. Its also the only butane I ran into that I've personally seen clog lighters. Ive been using xikar for 5 or so years on my cigar lighters with no issues. I have found that the head shops claiming to be tobacconists carry butane for some sort of refinement of non tobacco plants.

It is the only brand stocked where I live. I collect lighters and I made the mistake of using Ronson. It will ash up and clog your lighter. I've had some issues with one can of Xikar too. I've been using big cans of Lucienne butane with good results. I use Dunhill, Davidoff and Dupont with no issues too.

I use the cheapest one I find; it comes in a yellow bottle. Lady at the smoking counter told me they were all the same.

Can a clogged butane lighter be fixed? That lighter included in the P&C maintenance kit lasted me about 3 months.

Given that since I switched from Bic lighters to a butane lighter half the time I get a butane taste in my mouth, you're probably right.

I used to buy (but still am using my last can of) Vector butane. I have used it in my IM Corona Old Boy lighters for years and have never had a single problem with either one.
That said; unfortunately, my local cigarette/cigar/pipe shop has stopped carrying Vector fuel. I bought a can of Colibri, but have yet to use it. I am hoping it is as good as Vector. If I had the choice, I would absolutely stick with Vector.

I've been using Ronson as it is the only one I can find locally, perhaps I should reconsider and order a can.

First I bought Ronson and it ruined two lighters. Then I bought Zippo and it gave me a rash on my hand that lasted months. Now I buy Fasfil at Total Wine and don’t have any problems.

Zippo makes Ronson butane.....they are the same! Both have caused clogging in my good butane lighters in the past. I only use 11x filtered clean butane with no issues ever.

Xikar Purofino (Premium Butane) gas is the best I've found...now if I can only find a decent lighter that I can afford. Had my Pipemaster repaired twice by Music City Mktng...still doesn't work...my Vector pipe lighter died because the piezo (sp?) gave out. Now using bic disposables until I get something better.

I use Xikar in my torch lighter for my cigars. I'm going to get a pipe lighter, but just use a Bic for the time being

Vector and Xikar. I used Xikar for a long time with no problems.
Switched to Vector a few years ago when it was recommended by my local b&m rep. The store uses Vector on all of the store's lighters and they never have issues. Since the switch, I've also had zero problems with Vector.
Vector is cheaper than Xikar. So it's my first choice. If Vector is not available, Xikar is my next choice.

The only Butane lighter I have is a Sterling Dunhill Unique ( which most folks call the copies a "Low Boy" ) and it came with a can of Dunhill butane and I've continued using it in it since I got it 3 years ago. It works well in this lighter. I know Dunhill does not make butane so I can't really know whose butane it really is. But I've had no problems with it
