One year jar aged McClelland 40th Anniversary Flake w/chilled Jewel of Russia vodka... still could use another year or so to take the slightly harsh Virginia edge off the tongue... Great to have JimInks back in action!!! Thanks, buddy. Glad to be posting again.

Sweet cask in the t cristiano paneled rhodesian grade c stripey reddish pipe. I dont know if the number stamp on the shank is a shape number or a birth year. This is the first pipe that has made me load half bowls, during the first bowl it tasted seriously of not the baccy I'd loaded it with. This continued for 2 more bowls before I loaded halfway and its fine now, just have to continue smoking it a half bowl at a time for a week or so longer. This pipe

Cristiano Signature that you bought. That was Tom's highest end line other than the limited run Millenium series. They are graded from A (top) down to F. Grade F usually has some spot rustication. I have a grade A and a grade C Signature. The number is the year the pipe was made. As I recall, yours is a '99. If you’d ever figure out how to post pictures, everyone could see what a nice looking pipe you’re smoking. 😜

Have you broken in many pipes that don’t have a bowl coating before? That’s not too unusual for bare wood bowls and is why some people hate to break in new pipes.

Have you broken in many pipes that don’t have a bowl coating before? That’s not too unusual for bare wood bowls and is why some people hate to break in new pipes. I've broken in a half dozen or so with no bowl coating, and this one is definitely a briar taste its just a lot more prevalent than any of the others have been. Thinking about it most of those were tapered(think dublin)bowls where this is a cylindrical straight wall bowl. It might also be the lightness of flavor in the baccy, I generally stick with burley or cooler smoking virginias, and I've been smoking sweet cask and chatham manor so far in this one. I can post pictures, I've just been slacking. I'll see what I can do about snapping some tonight between bowls, because the last few are real stunners. Derp forgot that I'm posting a smoke too. Its h&h el nino in the mm cobbler with red acrylic stem and boylans sparkling cider alongside.
