I am a 72 year old retired USN and served 24 years. I am back to smoking a pipe after an absence of 15 years but I started pipe smoking in the late 60s. I finally got a "sort of OK" from my doctor to start smoking a pipe again. I am also able to have a little bit of wine again. The two seem to go well together. My hobbies include: Science Fiction/Horror books and E-books, patio gardening, Classical Music (Have Degree), Photography (Retired Professional). I work at the apartment complex where I've lived for 22 years. I am the "Laundry Room Custodian"! BTW that is a $20 word for janitor!!! lol I've had the job since 2009. While in the Navy I was a Hospital Corpsman (medic) and was an EMT instructor and Medical Photographer. I September 2004 I suffered a CVA (stroke) which changed my life considerably. I am doing well now without too much disability. I sincerely hope to learn new things about pipe smoking and to be able to share some of my limited pipe knowledge.

Welcome aboard the USS briarpatch custodian, thank you for your service... it sounds like Salty Dog might be a good tobacco for you to try... certainly better than Sail.😉

I forgot to mention that i served 23 out of my 24 year enlistment with the USMC! Marines call Corpsman "Doc" and to most Marines they call Corpsman "honorary Marines". I hope I lived up to that great expectation!

Welcome aboard the USS briarpatch custodian, thank you for your service... it sounds like Salty Dog might be a good tobacco for you to try... certainly better than Sail.😉 Well thanks trailboss! :-) Also be it known that a "salty dog" ia also a mixed drink. My Dr. says no hard liquor and only wine in moderation. I drink mostly Merlot, Port and Mateus. Before the stroke in 2004 I was a gin and vodka man and I dearly liked a correctly made martini. Don't ask me what is a correctly made martini since that is a very subjective term and varies much from person to person. Let's just say I've ample experience in making the "perfect" martini, according to Custodian! rofl :-) Even my father (of blessed memory) had his own version of a correctly made martini - - - he used Absolut vodka instead of my preferred Bombay Sapphire gin! lol
