What are you listening to?

I am, ever since I heard their first album when it was released in 1967.

In 1968, they toured Europe together with another favourite group of mine, Jefferson Airplane. I was a 17-year-old schoolboy with no money to go see them when both groups played in Copenhagen: unfortunately, my parents didn't feel the need to finance my music escapades, so...

The Doors visited the Danish Television, who made a video of them singing "Love Me Two Times" and "The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)". The clip is to be found on a couple of video compilations.

I remember that summer night in a discoteque in a small village in northern Zealand, where the disc jockey stopped the music and told that he'd just received the sad news that Jim Morrison had passed away and then we all, even the routine drunks, held two-minutes' silence and then only Doors records were played for the rest of the night.

For the, er, record, my two favourite albums are 'Morrison Hotel' and 'L.A. Woman'.

If you haven't read  it already, I can highly recommend Danny Sugerman's "Wonderland Avenue" about his life with The Doors. Great stuff.
