A friend did this. I know it's outta most of yinz' wheelhouse, but there are a few guys here that will like it.
Hate the vocals, but dig the riffs. I didn't tell him that. Haha

Listening to some youtube vids in the background. Rodrigo y Gabriela on now... I agree with pepesdad1 here - they are talented and that was a great tune. I might check out some more of them.

Haha That is what I sing when I am out of coffee and don't discover it till morning when i try to wake up. Or when all my lighters are out of gas and I cant find any matches. Or when Rachel calls to tell me there is no problem with my credit cards.

Mozart Piano Concerto 19, with Radu Lupu.
The crazy amount of practice it takes to sound effortless.

ย ย You coming to Philadelphia?? ย A MUST watch video I get chills every time I hear this song from Bruce...so many gone, so many died because of hate...many beautiful lives lost...I remember many of them in my life...they didn't deserve to go like that. We lost at least 50 friends in the late 80s and 90's. I don't remember much hate, just a lot of sorrow.

The hate I was referring to was that much of the work to discover a "cure" was stopped because of who was getting the disease.

Things the real hippies really sang: I love Joni's music but she actually put us down in the end. Yeah she played Fort Bragg I get that. I did my time in the Navy too. Maybe she was just feeling angsty that day and maybe a lot of people put it out of context but she really put down the anti-war movement and the counterculture/psychedelic scene in her later years. I hate to put "real" in front of hippie, flower child, or anything else.. because it kind of defeats the whole purpose. The point of the 'movement' if there ever was one is to be kinder to others, be kinder to the planet, and do your own thing.. Whatever that is. I think that the movie Easy Rider put it best. Jack actually dropped LSD several times, in real life. He basically said, the reason the people out here in these hick towns fear you is because you are free. They talk about how great it is to be free and live in America but they don't live free. You guys live free and it scares them half to death. Still true to this day.

Well you could get seven ex hippes to give you eight or nine points of view on that, ten in their prime. I only know what they were singing. LOL

Well you could get seven ex hippes to give you eight or nine points of view on that, ten in their prime. I only know what they were singing. LOL Everyone has their own opinions. One effect I've seen LSD have on a lot of people is once your ego is really shattered temorarily by the drug it makes you really think about your life and the direction its going in and why you shouldnt let people control you especially not people you arent even related to like bosses or politicians or coworkers or just people on the street thinking about what you do for a living or whatever. Just do your own thing as long as its not causing other people grief or harm go and do it. I think that really changed the way a lot of musicians looked at music... What they were singing? Whatever they wanted to. There's no rules. Thats the whole point. Jim sang about death and blood and the end. Jerry sang about trains and turtles and all kinds of things. Janis sang about broken hearts and torn romances. Whatever they wanted to. The whole point is having an open mind and freedom of artistic expression and life in general. Extreme freedom. Those "ex-hippies" like Jerry Rubin and folks like that, who go on and on about what it was like in the 60s and 70s and what they did and sang and how at the end they realised it was just a bunch of nonsense so they became finance guys... Don't listen to them. They sold out and now they're working hard to turn everyones minds off (the few left who still have open minds thesedays) for profit. Yeah we're still out there and we're not going away. RIP to both Jerrys btw :/

To get serious for a minute, I am not sure there was that much coherence. Or maybe there was but it is revealed over time by historical context and subsequent research and thinking. Or philosophical backfill. If you and I could be escorted back there,by the angel of songs past, like Dicken's A Christmas Carol, I am not sure if we would see "a whole point". Or at least that "whole point" would be hard to figure up close. For every " turn on, tune in, drop out" there was a " which side are you on boys, which side are you on". Actually you and I could have a good discussion about this, over some amazing pipe smoking, and when the blue reek was dense and we could hardly see each other, well we would have had a real good time.

Things were way more organised then. It still is now but like everything else it breaks down into factions. Like Christian denominations. Theres still a huge scene today but like I said, its broken down into factions. I'll PM you because this gets into politics and stuff we can't talk about here.

I would look forward to a discussion certainly, and I agree it would not be appropriate here. Not so much what we are not allowed to talk about, but more what would be just inappropriate to talk about in this kind of forum.
But you and I in a diner, even a virtual diner, with coffee and pipe smoking (hey its our fantasy right), I am all there.

Right as of now the sound of silence, but not the song. I'm quite certain that my phone will start ringing with the neighbors wanting me to get my oak tree out of the street
