Anyone else into Medeski Martin and Wood? John Scofield joins them on occasion. I've been listening to them a long time, many have never heard of them. Thought I'd share. Funky, jazzy, jammy would be one way to describe them. They go from tight groove to all over the place and back to tight groove pretty seamlessly. Yeah dude I saw MMW several times live... Last time was in the early noughties. I really enjoyed their music at every occasion. Next time I head up to NY I might have to see if they're playing anywhere.

Stranglehold by the motor city madman. One of my favorites. Currently listening to some "meditation music" trying to sleep.... not working.

I'm starting to develop a new appreciation of Iris DeMent. If you saw the 2010 version of True Grit, you have heard her voice:
I recently found this song she wrote years ago. Here is the best version I could find. I somehow find it comforting....

You have an exquisite taste in music, Martin. I have been listening the Iris for the last two days. I think I love her.

When I was in secondary school these guys were WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT! They still are, in my opinion.

I was fortunate enough to to see them 2x, during my time in Colorado. Should have been once more in Miami but that's another story altogether. Anyway, they are really good live! In the day of having one cd at a time in the car, they got a lot of playing time in the ol' 93' Buick Skylark! Lol.
