These are the last two films I watched, on pay for Internet video streaming, wiki etc gives the low down, I generally watch once or twice a week, usually Spy/War and Indy/World these days though ocassional Thrill/Crime, but little Horror/Fantasy now, Old and new Westerns interest me too, and a good comedy every now and then.
The Olympus has Fallen was a fast shoot 'em ,kill 'em attack upon the White House, East/West, (Homeric Ullysses/Odysseus homecoming of the Korean War, circa today, I like to relate modern movie stories to classical drama and myth, so forgive my meandering)
A young persons film, I have never played computer games, but it was a coherently directed screenplay that meshed together with the weapons tech and the politically correct sensitive Gung Ho heroes and occasional heroine of course, with full on patriotism and perfect but tragically marred presidential family, and Morgan Freeman playing his charismatic gravitas self. All star action, worth a watch on a wet weekend, if you have seen everything else.
(incidentally my Uncle served in Korea, but never spoke to me about it.)
But it was engaging, but it is cruel of me feeding on such sadism, a cruel world.
I still try and understand the twist to the classic Mythological archetypes, but just a bit of a movie with a sequel.
The Ghost was a political intellectual thriller, that I never tuned into, too domestic , familiarity feeds contempt. It had art, style and atmosphere to be expected from the marred Roman Polanski, but there were undercurrents of tension and suspense but rather to low key and almost plainly lyrical in a low key way, there was something to set piece and theatrical with a small. "t" .
But it was financed by Germany to attack Tony Blair the British Prime Minister is the bottom line, but it swings around the UK political elite and the CIA bond...and the dangerous memoirs of the ex British Prime Minister. Worth watching.
i usually learn all about a book and a movie before I watch it but some people are offended by spoilers,
good viewing, but wiki it
Watching a film with an occasional puff on a well chosen pipe and tobacco or mix and a light beverage is choice
PS getting cross threaded to me not posting on the correct forum, but this is the edited version. :-(.
