Penzance was born in Oakland? It was the alternative to the Smokers Haven line and they were many of the same mixtures with different names. The Esoterica brand was owned and distributed from The Piedmont Tobacconist I seem to remember the shop was in Richmond years ago. Mike Butera bought the brand soon after. The Piedmont guy was a regular at shows years ago but I haven't seen him in years.

Greg Pease was one of the taste tested when the line up was being assembled. All the the blends were in Germain's catalog. They produced a lot of private label blends and supplied samples to Steve Richman. I asked Greg about this and here's his reply:
