I suggest leave it. I have a 3 yr old 320 unfinished that is gorgeous now from smoking and handling.

Eddie did a nice YouTube video comparing/contrasting these to the Morgan Bones. The unfinished pipes do color nicely as you smoke them and handle them.

I rubbed Olive Oil on mine and it gave them sort of a rosewood color

I will let it color on its own. That is one of my favorite things to watch a pipe do. Which is why I have several meers and several "unfinished" pipes.

Could anyone post a pic of one that has been smoked and handled a while? Thanks. This is a non answer answer. These are my two unfinished that have been smoked, but the color came from the olive oil before I smoked them

Mine is darker than those. No oil, just smoking and handling. No pics, sorry.

I thought about leaving them alone, but I am such an impatient soul

I own a few virgin pipes and they get pretty dark as the years go by. I watched the video, kind of interesting. I would go for Savinelli all day over the Bones pipe. That Bones pipe was ugly and poorly shaped. The Savinelli had a much better shape and they also used vulcanite for the stem which for my old teeth is a lot softer than acrylic.
I would also go for Savinelli as their quality control is up there with many higher end factory pipes. I would trust them that their briar is better as they have a long history of using quality briar.

My first unfinished was a Series 1 Oom Paul. I was impatient as well and stained it with Old English. It turned out fine, but 2 fills were highlighted and my eye is always drawn to them. I recently acquired a series 3 - 320 Author and I am going to leave it alone and let it color naturally, having learnt my lesson from the first instance.
