Cheers again everyone. It's great to have so many people who actually care. It's why I love this place.

Bogged my zero turn bad, had to get Tundra to pull it out, the chain whipped my arse, hell getting old, cut what I could, finished my cigar on porch, wife made me big glass of lemonade, cold wash cloths, inside watching UL versus Miss State. What got stuck?? Tosh the zero turn is a mower that turns on a dime and gives you 9 cents change. Started my day again at 5AM to see what the developments on the Hurricane were...seems the high has moved down to the middle of Florida keeping the storm out in the Atlantic. If the high stays there for a few days north Florida will be clear of a storm unless it turns back (which is always a possibility). Sittin' on the porch havin' a smoke!

Yes it has. Life will simmer down shortly. The raging inferno in my lower back will not.
It's going to be another busy day, but I can manage. Hopefully Momma and Alice get to go home today.
I hope everyone here is doing well

I started my day by removing the wet to dry bandages on my leg that will wake you up faster than any cup of coffee or other substance I know of. We are not using non stick surgical sponges here and I swear I lost a few chest hairs in the process. 72 in the swamp this morning and so cold inside the fifth wheel I can hang meat my teeth are even chattering as I type this nonsense. Going to attack the black ants living in my spot with Spectracide when the sun comes up I got the spray and the granules.

Last night, on the way home from work, I saw a dog laying on the side of the road. It looked like he had a collar on so I whipped the bike around and pulled up to him. Sure enough, his collar had a tag with name and phone number so I called with a lump in my throat. There was no answer but I left a message and waited a short time. While I was waiting, at least 100 cars zipped by me … not a single one stopped or even slowed down. It's bad enough that, after a crappy day at work, I had to deal with this scenario. However, what really saddens me is that nobody else had stopped before I got there including whoever hit him. When I got home the guy had called me back and left a message. Upon redialing, I heard an older man with an obvious strain in his throat and I lumped up again as well. I explained where the dog was and told him I had moved the body just enough to be off the pavement. He called again about 30 minutes later and said he'd found him and thanked me again. Then, it dawned on me that I still had the collar and asked if he'd like it returned. It sounded like he did but wasn't sure if he'd have transportation so tonight after work I'm dropping it off at his house. When I got home the first thing I did was flop down onto the floor and let the dogs pile on me.
R.I.P. "Zeus" and may you have the chance in the afterlife to bite the ankles of all those who wouldn't stop for you.

I hate to hear these things....pulled my "baby" a little closer after I read this. So sorry for the man who lost his close companion. I am completely anal about keeping track of our little girl...always has her harness on when we go out and she is strapped in to her car seat while traveling...turned off the air bag on the passenger side since wife always wears seatbelt...don't want the air bag going off and killing our "baby".
Still keeping a close eye on the storm as it devastates parts of the Bahamas...ready to book if the need be.

Since Thursday I have been bothered by wife’s new reclining living rm furniture, waiting on movers, living room furniture pushed against wall they deliver final piece till Saturday, she asks my opinion of where to put it, I tell her, I’m wrong, dileverymen deliver Saturday put it where she wants, that night you know I think you were right, so damn, son and I gonna have to move that heavy furniture around, early this morning I go to the barn and my big tractor is in high grass, and looks some kind of vines growing all over it. Start it up, cut 2 or three passes, still too wet, but enough for tractor to sit without vines growing thru it. Went back and smoked a Oliva Master Blend 3 Churchill on the porch, only good thing to happen to me today.

Yep, the wife and I have had that argument a couple of months ago and she decided that rearranging the furniture and ruining my bad back wasn't worth 43 years. In Houston the lawn tractor sits for 2 weeks and gets its own garden.

The wife and I are seriously considering getting the heck out of Houston. It's getting like New York F'n City around here. Too much traffic and insane drivers. Looking for a home in Jefferson Texas we think 🤔.

So you are going to trade hurricanes and flooding for hail storms and tornados and hotter summers. How will the mosquitos survive without your blood to suck on. The poor feral cats, rabid armadillos who would they taunt now. Does that town even have swamp breakfast. Does mattress Mack even advertise there. I will give you a call I can afford to give you gas money out of town. Do you even own a coat heavier than a Members Only jacket you will freeze to death in the first ice storm up there.

Doesn't Houston have those awesome Vietnamese Hot Crawfish places? I've never had them, but I SO want to. For that reason alone, I'd stay in Houston.

There is a reason they boil crayfish in cayenne pepper it kills the taste. Ditch food the cuisine of the swamps. Just saying. I will take clam chowder or lobster or shrimp any day of the week over crayfish.

Since I quit drinking, crawfish just arent as good.
I'll take all the crab legs you can throw at me though. Crab > Lobster

'Round these parts it's all blue crab, which Maryland has called its own. In the off season they're all brought in from Louisiana and the Carolinas. Since I quit drinking, picking crabs is not as good. Still, I'd love to try the Vietnamese Crawfish, that they toss with all the bird's eye chillies and south east Asian spices.

If you got a choice as to whether to have crab or lobster vs. crawfish...I'll go with the crab/lobster version. But in a gumbo or an etoufee (sp) they are really good mostly because of the sauce is my impression. I'd check with oldcajun on that one...he would know being this is his style and knowledge. Good cajun food can't be beat, particularly the seafood gumbo that is found mostly in La./Ms. and east Texas area.

I have legit recipes for the effofette, jambalaya and what not. Don't make them a lot because it is just me and momma and to me it is best served the first time.

I've never eaten a shell fish I din't like. Never had it prepared in a way I dint like either. From raw to steamed to boiled and fried. From clean and fresh to spicey and sweet. Its all good to me.
As for a drink, its all good still. Water, soda, iced tea or a light beer.
The best is when shared with others. Good food, good company with good laughs.

Looking for a home in Jefferson Texas we think 🤔. I am partial to West Texas. The real Texas. Plenty of small towns with decent folks. Remember that the revolution started in East Texas. No Kalifornicaters in East Texas. Affordable homes on the lake front. Grandma is wearing a "From My Cold, Dead Hands" sweat shirt. Closer to Louisiana Arkansas, Oklahoma and the east Coast. Don't have to drive 150 miles for groceries. (I know, you're special though). Further from the West coast. Closer to family. Not dust that gets into everything. Can drive from NE Texas to West Texas without going through any major cities. 25 miles to the Tyler Medical Center. Much cheaper cost of living than Marfa Alpine, or Fort Davis. Kalifornicaters are buying up all the good land in the west and Central Texas.

Yes Mosquitos live there too. Yes Bobcats eat the cats. Next to Caddo Lake with lots of gators, beaver, and catfish that can swallow a large dog, possums, skunks, rattlesnakes, raccoons, etc., so you would fit right in. Yes. We ride the motorcycle in the winter and I hunt on occasion. Several sweaters that I never get to wear and leather bomber A2 Cooper, ski jackets, camo M65 with liner, and more. We would be on the watershed upstream from you.

Doesn't Houston have those awesome Vietnamese Hot Crawfish places? I've never had them, but I SO want to. For that reason alone, I'd stay in Houston. Jefferson is on the Louisiana border. Close to Shreveport. Easier drive to Louisiana than from Houston. Yes, the "Cajun" places in Houston are all Vietnamese. Lots of seafood of all kinds around Jefferson. I love all my Vietnamese friends, and one of them has a great crawfish boil every year that we always go to. It is real international event with people from every race and nation that you can think of. But real Cajuns make better Cajun food. Then you have the Creole cooking. Can't afford it in Houston.

We see it here in Arizona also, Phoenix has been flooded with Chicagoans and Californian's, Tucson, Sedons, Flagstaff all are magnets to them. Oregon and Washington are reaping the wind of the seeds sown, I hope that Arizona does not inevitably follow suit, I am tired of shitfestations.
