It's my bday, so we went over to Rehoboth Beach for the first half of the day. I wanted french fries, ice cream, and mini golf. I was originally going to go to Ocean City, but it's bike week, and that would've been too much. Traffic was bad as it is near Rehoboth. Now headed to Baltimore for dinner. I will have spent about 6 hours in the car today. Haha. At least my food and fun quota will be filled. Happy birthday, Jason!

After shopping and lunch today we got home around 3pm. Being the heat of the day the wife and I decided to take a nap. Around 4:30 I looked up and the wife was going out the door. She came back in and said I needed to get dressed a detective wanted to speak with me. So I got dressed and went outside there were five police cars. Now a younger man probably 30 moved in the space next door about a week or ten days ago. I never met the man as I am only out very early at daylight and a few trips outside with the ninja chihuahua for her potty breaks. The detective asked me when was the last time I saw the young man. I only had spoken to him once last Thursday at lunch time as I was leaving I rolled my window down and offered him a wooden flat to put in front of trailer door. The police finally moved from behind our truck and we went and got our afternoon soda and some refreshments for all the police officers. That was good timing as we really did not want to watch the coroner bring him out. I suppose the young man committed suicide. I always feel sad for those folks than can not see tomorrow through the haze of troubles today.

Sorry to hear you had to go through that, Sean. Suicide is a terrible thing. The permanent solution to a temporary problem as they say. My daughter's best friend took her life a few years ago and it still causes my daughter and other friends of the girl, a lot of sadness. Especially around her birthday and the day she made that awful choice. Depression is no joke, it brings people to a very dark place and is not something you can will yourself out of. I hope your neighbor's family and friends can find some peace.

@psycholime I feel for the family and friends of the man. I know first hand how consuming it can be. The challenges through life can be tough, with a "sick head" its 100 times harder. I hope everyone can somehow find peace in this most terrible situation.
I haven't had a pipe since this morning. It was Yorktown, of course. I've been moving since 6 this morning. 18 hours later, I've moved EVERYTHING from 1 house to another one. I have about 75% of everything put up and in its place too. Not to bad for a 1 man show, but man, I am tired. If I ever move again, and have to do it myself, it will be in late fall or early spring. Not when its pushing triple digits.
I'm beat, and I'm going to feel it in the morning. Especially since I told my dad I'd stop by and help him get his floor started tomorrow.
No rest for the wicked, and too damn tired to even hold a pipe in my mouth right now. If I could get an IV at home, that would be great. I wouldnt even get up to grab water for the next few days.
Again, I'm getting old and feeling it.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, all. It was a good day. I went way overboard on dinner. Ate 3 appetizers, a main, and dessert (southern fried chicken livers, oyster po'boy sliders, pork belly Brussels sprouts. Then oxtail and gravy over root veggie mash. Then coffee cake bread pudding).
Josh, glad you got moved. I hate moving.

Traffic was bad at Rehoboth and Ocean City 50 years ago when I was last out there. Some things never change.

U.K. & Euro news are all a twitter over the theft of a 4.8 Million Β£ Gold toilet from Blenheim Palace. Think they need to upgrade security a notch.

Sorry I missed your birthday, Cramptholomew. I hope you had a great day. September is a great month to be born. @psycholime, that's crazy what happened to your neighbour. Regardless of how well you know the person, it still gives me the shivers if it's someone who lives beside you.

Moving does suck, I HATE it.

Belated Happy birthday, Jason!
Sorry about your neighbor Sean...it is hard for me to comprehend how someone can end up in a place to give up all hope, I have never been remotely in that camp, but I guess that I am blessed to not ever have felt that way, his family must feel devastated. In the final analysis, at least he wasn't wired so as to pull suicide by cop, or see how many people he could kill and live in infamy.

I had no skin in the game but it is a mighty strange way to wake up from a nap. His RV and pickup are still sitting there.

I finally got a good night's sleep and recovered from the aches and pains. Belated happy birthday to Jason and sorry to hear about all the misery going around. Spent the day at the hospice with the BIL. He is in pain all the time in spite of his fentynal patches and other pain meds. He is getting a lot of anxiety as he realizes that it's only going to get worse. He is freaking out about his weight loss, looks like an Auswitz survivor and he barely has the strength to stand up. π I hope that I go suddenly but not soon!

I woke up this morning after a glorious 3 1/2 hours of sleep sore as can be. I started my day by unpacking more. I went to my dads for a few hours to run 1/2 of his kitchen floor, came back and took a very long 19 minute nap. I unpacked and set up more, got 5 children in bed and now have a peaceful moment to myself on the front porch. As always, I got everyone's stuff taken care of before my own. Now that I found my clothes I can get a shower, take 4 ibuprofen, turn a movie on, and melt into my bed... well, after a pipe

The last couple of times we moved I payed someone to do it after I boxed it all up. Money well spent as I am pretty sure trying to move my things would surely kill me.

I hope it all works out for you LL.
Competent help expedites the moving process. Getting help is the problem, so you take what you can get. Dolly's make life easier. The worst part is this place is just temporary, so I'll be doing this again. The person we rented the last place from passed away, her family took over and wanted to raise the rent an extra $300 a month.

That is a hard way to go. Hard for you and the Missus to watch happen. Me? I want to go while on the irrigation system. First they see my hat float by, then they realize there is something plugging up the culvert.

Had a 20 min session with Direct TV, DVR froze and rebooted for no reason it was 8 yrs old, talked with an Indian that doesn't scalp you for 20 min, I've got the protection plan, got tired after 20 min of rehashing, told him send a a damn box. Hung up and called again, got an American finally, told him I've been with you people for 25 yrs, box is 8 yrs old doesn't work, he said Mr Simon I'll get a man tommorow to fix your situation, good I said. We'll see. Damn AT& T made DTV WORSE, didn't think it could get worse.
