Walt if you’re a match it’s a fine thing you’re doing and if you’re not a match it’s still a fine thing you were gonna do.

I'll stick with pictures of such scenery. I'm WAY too much of a lightweight these days to deal with temps that low!

Getting nervous about the kidney transplant...have had plenty of surgeries before, but this is different being an elective of a sort..insurance company, of course, doesn't want to pay for something like this, but makes no difference they can send me the bill after a down payment. Life is too short not to step up to the plate when necessary. Not looking forward to the traffic in Miami..that is the biggest dread of all.

Another +14 degree (F) morning. Moe snow overnight. There is about one foot on the ground with drifts accumulating more. Not a problem but it means hauling hay bales to the critters will be more difficult. I may have to use the toboggan to tow the bales out to where the critters are.

Hoping for the best for you and your brother, Walt. Surgery is never fun but it can be an interesting experience. You get to engage with people who know things and who are focused on being helpful to others. That is a plus! You get to lie around and have people come and go. Meals are brought to you. You might have a little pain so something for that. You get to read in peace, more or less. You get to save your brother's life which is not something which happens often. You get points for that.

I had a kidney out 11/8/2016. It hurt a lot for a while, especially when I was laughing.

I had a kidney out 11/8/2016. It hurt a lot for a while, especially when I was laughing. Ron, how long was the discomfort...days, weeks, months? Well, it was cancer and they ended up with a bigger incision than planned. It really hurt for a couple of days, but it was all gone in a month. After the first week It wasn't more than a 3 or four. The main issue is getting out of bed. If you can firm up your side some before then do it. We have an Sleep Number bed and it was a problem. You should have a smaller incision than I did so it will be a little easier for you. I wouldn't have walked across the street to piss on my brothers if they were on fire, and they wouldn't have for me, either. Glad to hear that you love yours.

Brother and I were estranged for several years...but "life" has a way of straightening out any difficulties you might have once had...we are both too old for grudges...time to "come together", as John once sang (Beatles)
Thanks for the info, Ron...gives me a better idea of what I'm in for.

I reconciled with my younger brother before he died, but we no longer had a relationship. My oldest brother hated me since I was born. Once he stopped drinking he was tolerable. At least he stopped the abuse. It's OK. I had 5 sisters that loved me to death. Sisters are better than brothers.

There is still time to climb onto that John Deere riding law tractor/mower and drive on over to her place. As you may know, an older fellow in Iowa did just that. Rode his JD Lawn Mower all the way to Michigan to see his brother. Seems he lost his Driver's License and this was his best option. A movie was made of this story, with Richard Farnsworth, a credible old coot from New Mexico. "The Real Story", or something like that.

Got up early, wife’s 74th birthday, went in the fog and cut a lot of white Camelias, wife has a dish for flower arrangements, put arrangement on snack bar. Her real birthday is money to go play Bingo today and money for scratch offs, she loves em. Lucky man I am!

Seems to me you will be spending time in an open back hospital gown. When you are ready to get up and walk a bit, a robe is handy.

Warmed up to a high of +18 degrees!!!!
Critters fed. I had some difficulty getting hay bales through the snow but they go them. I am not as well equipped as in past years.
Forecast is for -7 degrees (F) tonight. That will be hard on everyone.

Happy birthday Mrs cajun.
Safe journeys Walt.
I'm sitting in front of the fire, chilling out after a busy day. Services this morning and then friends round this afternoon. It's been lovely.

Just reorganized the currently smoking section and packed up the whole cellar again. I have a pic of it, but couldnt find the appropriate thread for it.
Fellas that I owe packages to, I did this just so I could pull out your jars, hahaha

Up late watching the temps drop and playing some Fallout 76. I have been playing this stupid game for a year and I am still finding new things. On sale for 20 bucks I got my friend in Tulsa a late Christmas gift and sent the code off in a email. Don't even think of playing this unless you are retired. So anywho got the fireplace going and the electric heater on quiet mode. I bet I run the big heater in the morning just to knock the chill out as it is pretty wet in the swamp.

By the time I got out of bed this morning, the Sun was over the Mesa and warming us up. SO, only -10 degrees (F) when I checked the thermometer and brought in more firewood. Another clear Sunny morning with calm winds, thankfully.

toshtego you make me feel awefully guilty for being to much of a thin blooded wimp to step out and have my morning pipe in our quite warm by your standards yet still too cold for me high 30's low 40's temps here in the Phoenix Valley...

42 degrees this morning, sunny, NW winds 7 to 10 mph, gonna be a beautiful day. Still trying to figure out how Sportcasters got it so wrong on LSU, BIAS. maybe, Big 10, Big 12, Crap! SEC is where it’s at. That’s my take on it.
