It's getting close to St. Pat's Day so I'm sure that Turner Classic Movies will have it on as well.

I have seen it on TV a hundred times, as I am sure you have too. This is a chance to see it on the big screen.

The old Irish fart on the left, always has a pipe hanging from his mouth. And I like this scene in the pub.... Sad thing is...In Ireland you cannot smoke anymore in a pub, in America you cannot smoke in a theatre...I would rather stream it in my home or arrange to have a viewing party at a local tobacconist....I want to smoke a pipe when watching this movie. Cool that there is an option for those that want to watch it on the big screen though.

I enjoy all of John Wayne's movies. The Quiet Man and The Shootist are among my favorites.

I have it on DVD and I can enjoy my pipe while it plays. Nothing better than watching a great movie, enjoying my pipe, all from the comfort of my recliner.

We saw it at the theater and while it was of course a great movie, the print was dark and muddy. It really detracted from the experience. It is over due for a serious digital restoration. I bought the best DVD I could find and it suffers from the same issue, but I adjusted the TV picture settings to improve it a good deal. I would not pay to see it in the theater again until it's remastered. Note that the same company that released it does the same thing every month with a different classic movie. Casablanca, The African Queen, Laurence of Arabia, and I just heard that Gone With The Wind is next up.

I saw Gone with the Wind in the theater back in the late 80s.

I told my mom that I was taking my date to see the re-release of GWTW twice when I was 18 and needed an excuse to stay out for 5 hours after the movie started at 9:30pm. It was time well spent at the Tropical Motel. 😎 Edit : She always thought it was my favorite movie, which couldn't be further from the truth.

I watched it just the other night on my Roku box for free. Great flick for sure. I'd forgotten that John Wayne never smokes a pipe in the movie.... Just RYO cigs.
