I just received Pipestuds weekly newsletter and took a look at his latest consignment inventory. There are some good buys there, especially in the McClelland line. If I wasn't tapped out I would be making some purchases. Remember...pipe tobacco will never be as cheap as they are right now, especially McClelland. He also has a nice blog in honor of Mike and Mary McNiel and the McClelland blends.

Are the consignment listings in the newsletter the same as the website listings?

Are the consignment listings in the newsletter the same as the website listings? The newsletter has a link to his consignment site and a link to his ebay site. So yes I guess is the short answer.

I am interested in the Reiner Long Golden Flake...nice and aged. I just can't spend that right now.

There are actually a few McC aros I wouldn't mind a tin or two of, ones I've had before. Any dessert aro lover should get the Best of Show from early 2000s. It's divine. Christmas Spirit is similar. pipestud Steve is as good as it gets. He took some McC 40 Anny from his collection and sold it at regular prices. I don't know Steve other than emails, but he and Eddie from Pipe Nook are the absolute finest in the business. Were I not sitting on a hundred pound cellar I have my eyes on about 20 tins on his site. Not being close to payday helps/hurts too

I only have 6 tins in the cellar and will be rationing it for sure.

Thanks for posting that David. I have been cleaning house and didn't see this post. And Grumpy, like Sable said, sign up for the Pipestud newsletter. It has a link for his ebay site with all of his pipes for sale/bid. The news letter is nice, ya know, just another PAD/TAD itch to fight off.

I was too late to catch those tins of 656! He had some good stuff on there. Got to be quick, though.

I’m really surprised to see people pay $35.00 for 2 year old tins of H&H Syrian, when the same sized tin can still be had for $10 and change at P&C.

I sure do appreciate all the very kind compliments on this thread. Thank you!
And, in answer to trailboss's question regarding price of the Mac Baren HH Vintage Syrian blends; I do try to keep prices fair on my site. I try to keep the prices in a range of fairness to my consignors, to me, and of course, to my customers. I don't always hit on all cylinders and apologies for when I don't. For pricing the HH Vintage Syrian, I took into account that the tins had some age to them and the Syrian tobacco within is no longer produced, so it is a blend that is no longer being produced and will soon be out of stock. And finally, I ship internationally as well as within the USA. Several countries that I ship to do not have Mac Baren tobaccos imported into their country, and I may be mistaken, but I am under the impression that P&C does not ship overseas anyway. So, taking all of the above into account, I "guessed" that $35/tin was a fair price for all concerned. The tins did sell quickly and to a buyer in a country outside of the USA. So, I hope he was happy with his purchase and at the set price point.
Thanks again for all the kind comments!
Steve

Steve, 11:22 am is too damn early for me to be checking my emails for your weekly notice. I submit that a 1:30 tee time works much better for me and will of course give me a better chance at scoring some tins. Please take this under advisement and see what you can do for me buddy.

My post wasn’t meant to be taken as criticism... to the contrary...I just found it surprising.
The point is well made about foreign buyers, egads on the prices some consumers pay in places like Australia.

Pipestud has fair prices, but I'm getting off the consignment and eBay tobacco bus.

If you go to the west Coast Pipe Show Steve been at least to the last two that I have been to, He is a great guy to converse with and you immediately can tell he would be a good guy to ride the river with...a bright star in our hobby to be sure. His blog is a must read. At one time he wrote a piece in Pipes and Tobacco? about how Virginia blends get all the chatter on the resell market but generally old tins of English bring the higher prices generally, Balkan Sobrani being a good example....he emailed it to me allowing me to post it on the forum at the old site, but I guess I lost the email.....

Steve is a great guy to deal with. He is listing pipes I made for sale on his site as he wants to promote actively American pipe makers.
