I liked that show. Jim Hutton died way too young.

I liked that show. Jim Hutton died way too young. He did. Died of liver cancer in 1979. Hutton was a heavy drinker, unfortunately. I had a friend who knew him and said he was a great guy.

Never watched it, but curious now. My one bit of interesting EQ trivia for classic sci-fi fans is that Theodore Sturgeon wrote The Player on the Other Side.

It's one of the best books with the Ellery Queen character. I think it's the only one I've read. Enjoyed it a lot. Sturgeon was one classy writer.

Jim and Tim Hutton did the best period detective series I've seen in all of American TV-Dom. You have to go to Britain's Jeremy Brett Holmes to do as good or better.
Tim used some of those actors in his series Leverage and in his movie, Heavens Fall.
Oh, Crime Story is way up there, too, though more of a police show

Best shout out to this is during an episode of Leverage, they were discussing the best detectives in history and Timothy Hutton says something like "No one was better than Ellery Queen"....made me laugh, and my wife looked at me like I was weird and said "it's not that funny" and I had to explain it to her. Always makes me feel old when I have to explain stuff like that to her (she's ten years younger).

Haven't seen the Ellery Queen, but I really enjoy Hutton as Archie Goodwin in the Nero Wolfe series.

They got at least three dates wrong, and there was something else that doesn't come to mind at the moment.

I've been watching the EQ series with Ralph Bellamy on YouTube.
