I’m a recent convert to the Natur meerschaum filters. I concur they are the best of all alternatives. I normally don’t have any problems putting a couple bowls worth of tobacco on a tray and getting two bowls from a single filter. You can also flip one. I would change it though if I were changing tobaccos as a personal preference. You can play around with them and see what works best for you.

I might add that the Big Bens are a close second, though more expensive. I haven't posted on filters for a few weeks because I wanted to give them all a chance. Meers are worth it. Oh, and two bowls works about right.

Aside from the Nording Keystones and Carey Magic Inch pipes, I really never gave filters a try. I always chucked the 9mm & 6mm filters and after reading all these posts decided to give them a try. Why the bias against filters?? Can't say. The 9mm charcoal filters and Dr. Grabow 6mm paper filters really pleased me. For example, I smoked a bowl of MacBaren Scottish Blend which usually gives me a little or alot of tongue bite depending on how I smoke it. With the filter in place, I not only did not get tongue bite but brushed my teeth and rinsed with mouthwash afterward and my tongue did not tingle or burn at all. In the past, sans filter my tongue was very sensitive after brushing and rinsing. I'm not breaking any new ground here I'm sure, but for me it's been a pleasant discovery.

I often get a surprise when I receive a package I'd clean forgotten that I'd ordered. I've got amazon prime for the stuff I need next day. And UK tobacco sites deliver next day as standard.
