I remember the old Captian Black TV ads from way back!

I especially remember the Captain Black ones...I used to mail order tobacco from a shop in Michigan. With each order was a form for the next order. On those forms was a statement that Sparky Anderson ordered a particular tobacco from them.In days of old it wasn't that unusual for a well known fellow to do an ad for pipe tobacco.

A very close friend of mine was District Attorney in Binghamton, NY when Billy Martin died in his car. My friend was called to the scene to witness the proceedings. A sad day for baseball. Billy was truly one of a kind.

Not completely off-topic, but I just adore this old ad. I love everything about it the more I look at it. Ha.

I love the period wallpaper, the range, the toaster, the clock, the freaking BREAKFAST VODKA!, the cigarette, the Playboy font, and the used prostitute look in her face and hair.
Do you want to be as joyful as this woman? Then BREAKFAST VODKA's for you!

Vodka and a cigarette, definitely not "the breakfast of champions". Makes you want to run out and by both, doesn't it? Pretty sad.

The pipe adds are just before my time. I'm just old enough to remember Joe Camel and the Marlboro Man. I recall being in maybe 2nd or 3rd grade when that huge smear campaign attacked Joe Camel for targeting kids. I recall thinking at the time 'That is ridiculous. Why do they think a lame camel is fun for kids?' Maybe if it were one of the Transformers,ThunderCats,GI Joe or Hulk Hogan...' In fact: Hannibal Smith did make me wanna smoke cigars when I grew up. And of course Sherlock Holmes is always going to be the first person referenced by most people when pipesmoking is mentioned.
I remember George Burns though. I really liked him as a kid because he looked identical to one of my grandfathers; He just seemed trustworthy.
I really want to try some Condor. And watch a George Burns film.
Time travel would definitely be my 'super power' if I could pick one. I'd spend the rest of my life in the 80s.

He drove a Rolls Royce, and made panatela cigars cool. His breakthrough was playing opposite Audrey Hepburn in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’. He died to soon. “I love it when a plan comes together.”

Yup, I remember many of those ads.....WOW.....I’m getting old....lol. Brings back memories of those years long gone forever.
My first cigar at age 16 was a Muriel Coronella.....I surely remember the ads and TV commercials at the time.

While I don't remember this ad specifically, I must have come under its influence, because when I started smoking pipe I remember being disappointed. I had some kind of hidden expectation that women actually behaved this way.

Being from Detroit...more than the tobacco ad, I remember Billy storming out of the Tigers dugout to raise cane with the ump, eventually kicking dirt on his ankles and getting ejected from the game. Ah, the good ol' days.
