Ran a few forums over the years where every time someone got banned the next person signing up was accused of being a member of the Banned. I am so happy to have others running this forum. It's more fun just being here Some of the more, er, power-mad forum owners prevent that by using a total IP ban. Vengeance is theirs - mwah hah hah hah! So if you get banned and a family member or housemate is also on the forum, they're out of luck too. |

So if you get banned and a family member or housemate is also on the forum, they're out of luck too. We use a total IP ban here when we do have the unfortunate requirement of making someone go away. So far, I think we have only banned 1 or 2 legitimate participating members. Sad situations and I really didn't want to do it, but there was no other choice for the good of the community. The remainder have been spammers and such, who in reality are probably using a proxy anyway, so the IP ban is pretty much useless if they want to try and sign up again. |
