I was cleaning out and organizing the shed yesturday puffing away and realized there was no feasible place to set my pipe. So I found a few pieces of scrap wood, put a little thought into it and figured Id build a stand real fast. When I started, I figured it would only take a few minutes. 4 hours later if cutting, sanding, waxing and buffing, this is the result. Its nothing fancy, but I like it. My 5 minute project didnt go as planned and needless to say, the shed didn't get organized until today. The pipe was a nice companion while wood working. I'm glad I decided it was time to buy 1, actually 2 now.

Very nice. My rule of thumb is--figure out how long it will take to do something, then multiply by 3. That usually is the better estimate.

Well it started off as something to throw together for a temporary solution. As i was working along i got mire involved with it. I could have taken a little more time with it and made it a lot better, but I promised my son we'd make a bird house and bird feeder before he went back to his mom's.
I have an image in my head for multiple pipes and a small cabinet for tobacco and tools. Im going to pick up some different wood this week and start that project next weekend.

I've never built a pipe stand, so you're already better than this guy at it! Nice job. Let's see another image with your pipe on it.

Nice stand, can see it took some thinking and work. Did you pin it together using dowels or mortis and tendon?

I used 2 finish nails and set them a little bit. I thought about using dowels but wanted to save a little time.
I'm ready for the weekend so I can start on my next project.
Thank you all for the kind replies.

Your Grabow Freehand pairs up nicely with your stand.

Thank you. I like the pipe, I just wish it had more bend to it. Learning as I go and I'm sure there will be many more pipes joining me on this journey.
