I don't smoke when friends or family are close by. Not because of the smell so much, but because I unconsciously learned from my dad that pipe smoking was a solitary activity. We knew not to bother him when he smoked.
It is really wonderful that things have changed. Forums like this are really wonderful.

I feel for you, I was in San Francisco for a spinal trade show (I am in the medical manufacturing industry), I noticed that all the homeless, public drug use and open defecation aren't a problem. Smoking a pipe............throw the scoundrel into the BAY! There is the answer! In order to smoke you have to sit on the ground on a piece of cardboard. Wear an old ratty coat. They will leave you alone. |
