Just to be controversial: Is he now a bad man that did some very good things or a good man that did some very bad things?

Really sad to achieve so much, and leave such a sorry legacy that will forever mark him.
The sheer number of accusers is convincing to me.

...loved his comedy records as a youngster, but he was tried in a court of law and found guilty. 'Nuff said.

The image people had of him is now forever tarnished..It's really sad that he could end up this way.

I had good memories of him too. Same with Rolf Harris and the same happened to him.

I have the complete Playboy After Dark and he is not listed in many of them, though he is there... lurking in the background with dark sunglasses and a cigar. I think it was more to act cool, but evidently Playboy is named in one of the incidents.
I grew up loving his albums. He made the terrors of childhood funny. Damned shame

Not that this means anything, but even as a kid there was always something about him that creeped me out a little. I thought there was something a little sinister about him and somehow didn't quite buy his friendly, wholesome persona. I did like Fat Albert, though!

That's why he was knighted.

Just to be controversial: Is he now a bad man that did some very good things or a good man that did some very bad things? Not controversial at all, IMHO. Either statement is pretty accurate to me. I grew up with Fat Albert and the Cosbys, Jello Pudding commercials, etc. I love him for those and am shocked at his criminal behavior, but it is what it is and he deserves to spend time in prison, probably much more than he actually will.

I'll take a different tack here. Being a firm believer in the old saying of... "Character is truly revealed by what you do when no one is looking" I have no choice but come to the conclusion that he was of very bad character and would therefore be a Bad Man that did some good things.

Other than being a comedian who made people laugh, did actually do "very good things"? I'm just not familiar with his life so I don't know. Was he involved in civil rights, or charitable organizations, or ?

I guess he's reaped the rewards of the good for long time, and now it's time to be punished for the bad.

It was closer to 50 “Oh Shits” and very likely two or three times that number who did not press charges. I liked his work and he was undoubtedly a stellar comedian, but he was also a serial rapist. His past work will now be tainted by this fact in my eyes. Whilst he was filimg the Cosby Show, Fat Albert, I-Spy etc., he was spending his spare time raping women.

Good news... Yea, it is good news. But its so sad. Opportunities wasted. The Cosby we knew could have really done a lot of good.

I admired him in "I Spy" back in the early Pleistocene Era or thereabouts. It was a long time ago.

Separating an artist from his/work is really a complicated issue. I always think of Israel banning Wagner performances because he was such a raging anti-Semite. I've had some challenges in the last year or two, with musicians and actors whose work I respect and admire turning out to be the kind of person I would try to avoid having to talk to in the pub.

I've had some challenges in the last year or two, with musicians and actors whose work I respect and admire turning out to be the kind of person I would try to avoid having to talk to in the pub. It's difficult. I have managed it when it comes to politics and such - there are many stars I like and have liked in movies and music, whose politics and political statements I don't like. And there are artists whose personal (non political) opinions and prejudices I really despise, and while it sometimes affects my appreciation of their art, I work hard at separating the two and really trying to understand what makes the art great. Cosby is a another matter. I really did like his comedy, his shows, and I thought a lot of him getting a real doctorate. When the allegations first were made known, I just didn't believe it. What "convinced" me was when Cosby got all weird and started claiming racism was at the root of it. He was never one to play the race card, ever as far as I can remember. At that point I believed that most if not all of the allegations had more truth to them than I anyone would be comfortable with.

Just to be controversial: Is he now a bad man that did some very good things or a good man that did some very bad things? That is something that can never be answered, about just about everyone. We are all flawed. That is not an excuse or an attempt to dilute the situation by saying everyone does it, or we all would do it. Not at all. His behavior was monstrous. But I really do believe that the label of good person or bad person is never 100% appropriate. We are all just bumping around, most of us doing the best we can. And, for the most part, don't attribute to evil what is better explained by incompetence, laziness, and fear. Though sometimes... and if you buy that, well I guess you have to accept that, with most people anyway, don't attribute to virtue what can be better explained by lack of opportunity, laziness, and especially fear.

I remember him and liked him in the "I Spy" series the most. Just hope he sincerely asks for forgiveness, I think a lot of us know he's a good man down deep and I hope he continues to be.
