They must have been busy the last few months supplying a bunch of tins to Smoker's Haven. Maybe now that that backlog is cleared they'll get on to their own blends, or Esotericas.

...interesting thought, but I'm a born skeptic... such thing occur, but I'm inclined to think they're just a tiny company doing their best to make a living...

You guys are probably right, but I just have to wonder if it is not a conspiracy if some buyer or buyers just happens to be there at the right time to snarf it up. How did snarf make it past my spellchecker?

...whatever the true story is over there, they have some sort of *magic* going on in their manufacture.

I have enough Penzance to last a while...Good Thing...When It's gone I probably won't be able to afford to replace it.Even if it's available.

I have my price limits, but I remain convinced that one of the key ingredients in Penzance is Heroin...

This is just you thinking to much David. Years ago when I had the time and was willing to put forth the effort I was able to acquire all the Penzance and Stonehaven I wanted. Lots I still have and some of it was turned into pipes I wanted.
I enjoy Stonehaven, but Germain RDF is better. IMHO there are so many tobaccos better then Penzance and it is more hype then anything!

Germain is a bit of a mystery. Their production facility is on the Isle of Jersey in a very nondescript building. When they produce is mostly unknown from what I understand. In addition to their own blends they made some fantastic ones for Butera. Pelican and Kingfisher were among the best.

Most online stores allow you to subscribe for when they get the tobaccos in that you want, sign up and be quick when you get that email!

Penzance will always be my favorite tobacco and Stonehaven is a close second. Both super smooth and burn to a fine ash every time.

I've got a word in at the local B&M to hold me a couple, should the day finally come.
Also, awhile back I took a little tour of the island on Google maps. Very cool. I had no idea the islands were there until recently researching Germaine's.

I would not be surprised to hear that a shipment has been distributed next month. I like several of the Esoterica blends immensely, among them Dunbar, Dorchester, and Tillbury, and I'm well stocked on those, as well as Stonehaven. I hated Penzance on contact and try as I might, just cannot abide it. I have a few bags of other assorted Esoterica blends like Margate, Pembroke, Peacehaven, and Hastings which I will get to one of these days. No rush. Aging won't hurt them. When Germain's gets it right, the results are stunning. And then there's their version of Balkan Sobranie, which is a crime against nature.

I have enough on hand I'm no longer hunting; however, I suspect most are now being offered though channels which will maximize profit. No fault there IMHO.

Similarly, one of the online shops advertised that they kept their McC prices normal while they ran out of stock. Normal equaled MSRP, which was not their regular price. I don't fault them either, save that it was a tad misleading. It still beat buying them on the secondary market.

I have enough on hand I'm no longer hunting; however, I suspect most are now being offered though channels which will maximize profit. No fault there IMHO. It wasn't any big trick to find what I wanted. I have a couple of B&M's that carry Esoterica blends and I'm a regular customer, buying a variety of different tobaccos. So when the stuff comes in, they're happy to sell to me, because I'm not a cherry picker. I haven't ever paid scalper prices for any of it. Over the past four years I've picked up a couple of bags here and there, and built up enough that I don't have to hunt for it ever again. Maybe some stores are selling Penzance or Stonehaven at a steep markup these days. I've never had to deal with that. Good as some of these blends are, no blend, with the exception of aged Haddo's, '96 McCranie's, or a few other vintage blends, has ever been worth it to me to shell out a lot of money. There are other blends every bit as good.

You like what you like, and I like what I like. And if I ever develop a liking for Penzance, I'll have a few lbs of well aged stuff to smoke. And, it not, I'll have a few lbs of that weed killer to trade, sell, or gift.

Does anyone wonder of said brands will ever be available at our usual retailers again? Is it possible the distributors are committed to selling all their wares to some scalpers who have guaranteed purchase? Just thinking I've been able to buy said blends at my local B&M. I don't think there's a conspiracy, but it's definitely difficult to buy these blends from the popular online retailers. Fortunately, while I'm a fan of Germain and Esoterica blends and stock up on them when I can, there are a lot of others brands that I enjoy that are much easier to get.

Fortunately, while I'm a fan of Germain and Esoterica blends and stock up on them when I can, there are a lot of others brands that I enjoy that are much easier to get. I'm not able to get out so local B&M is not available. If it were I am not sure I would have cellared so much. I believe I have seen a couple Germain's on SP last year, before I knew it was a hot commodity. Eso was available one time from a place online. Prices were double, and as fast as I got there there were only a few blends left and for some fahrshtinkenah reason I bought Ramsgate. Story of my life. Anyway, the forum knows of @10furlongs generosity. I have a tin of King Charles and one of Penzance, the latter waiting for the Kentucky Derby. They will probably last me a while, as (at least with KC) I consider them treat tobaccos. Had a rough day last weekend. Treated myself to King Charles. Murray's, SuperValue (good English), and Balkan Supreme the rest of the week. I start these threads for discussion more than to be conspiratorial.. well, that's a lie. I love my conspiracies, but in tobacco I am blessed. The people of this forum are further blessings. I won't sweat over one brand. Enjoy your local B&M, even if you pay more. I paid MM a couple bucks more per pouch of Great Dane than I would have elsewhere, but I like them. One of the few places I call on the phone. Anyway, I just got done chatting with Apple over another conspiracy on my Ancient Aliens Seasons, so I'm making poop for sense right now.

I love a good conspiracy and if scarcity makes something taste better then all the better. I bought a couple of bottles of Pappy Van Winkle(at inflated prices) and shared a bottle with friends and we agreed it was the best bourbon we ever had. Drank it by myself a month later and wondered what the big deal was.

Remember, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get you.
