Good Evening Pipers! Hope everyone has been enjoying their Sunday. Tomorrow, I need to make a call to one of my buddies, a two-time Purple Heart recipient during Vietnam. He's always well deserving of these phone calls. Usually need a couple of Kleenex' at my side.
Early this morning, some EGR in the Savinelli Author #4. Headed out to the nursery and bought a couple of hanging baskets for the front porch, and two new Carolina raspberry plants for the backyard. Following the Cav's win this evening over the Celtics, folded some Samuel Gawith St. James Flake into the Castello Rusticated Bent SeaRock. What a nice flake!
Have a good evening everyone...

Another beautiful in Pinehurst. After singing in church this morning I got home and finished up some work and then joined my neighbor for a twilight round of golf on # 3. Naturally this availed itself to an assortment of cigars, Curly Heads & Maduro 858's, as well as some Dunhill My Mixture 965 in my designated golfin pipe. After getting home and feeding Hank and taking him for a walk I had a quick bite and have made my way up to the cave for a bowl or three and a little time here on the patch. So I'm now smoking some older Margate in one of my very favorite pipes, a beautiful Yacht that was in terrible shape when I got it but now sits proudly on the shelf most of the time, only being taken down occasionally... Sippin Glenrothes. I love that pipe. Great work with the restoration.

In the Battle of the Göhrde at 18 September 1813 the soldiers were pined down by enemy artillery and rifles, a young drummer could accept this and without taking order by an officer in a suicidal decision rise up and start drumming the "Charge" rhythm. The soldiers stand-up and charge to the enemy without knowing that there was no official order. The young drummer against the rules follow them in the first line urging them so the soldiers took more inspiration and courage to reach the hill. Inevitably the heroic drummer drawn attention by the enemy and multiple rifles fired toward him wounding him heavily. When the drummer carried to the hospital the doctors cutting the uniform to heal the wounds by surprise discovered that was not "he" but "she"! A young girl for patriotic reasons disguised as a man and was fighting in the Jägerbataillon. The brave drummer didn't manage to see the end of War, she past away due to the heavy wounds. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleonore_ProchaskaLudwig van Beethoven: Funeral March ('Leonore Prohaska') I pay my respects raising my pipe with Samuel Gawith Perfection and my cup of coffee to the memory of Eleonore Prochaska which did something beyond the duty helping the other soldiers to win the battle. God rest her soul.

The Dog, John Hyatt, The Prince, my semi-restored WDC Wellington and I are enjoying an overcast morning on the deck in Lower Alabama. Looks as if the storm is going well to the east of us. Good for us, bad for the Florida Panhandle and the Big Bend.
