I say hooray.
Let the temperance movement go all balls out.
They should ban all tobacco, all alcohol, tax people out of their homes, ban all guns, ban private ownership of comustible engines, etc....
Let the voters stew in their diapers.
Really, if you vote for people that are so bold to make that move, you deserve what you get.

I can see a day when my Smoker's Pride is worth hundreds a 12 ounce bag. You all can sell your McC to the rich boys, but I will make millions off the common man. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... I'm so rich!!! Not that I have an opinion, mind you

The fact that they call themselves "supervisors" really says all you need to know about people that should be considered as public servants...

If it's between, I don't know, someone who's going to start a nuclear war and take away my healthcare but is easy on tobacco I'm still going to vote for the other guy.

I think that it all comes down to individual liberties, and being respective of them, and private tobacco use is a good example...nothing was said aout nuclear war...unless the city "supervisors" happen to have nukes.

This whole "Nanny State", ban this & ban that is getting out of hand. No plastic bags,, plastic bottles, straws, e-cigs, large "sugary" sodas, firearms, not to mention here in NY an automatic 75% tobacco surcharge if I purchase baccy from a NY retailer. Vote and write your legislators complaining about all this "We know what's best for you" nonsense. McDonalds burgers will be next or maybe high sodium Chinese food?

Why does this not surprise me... I once lived there for four years. It wasn't for me.
But don't worry, the social engineers at Google and Facebook know what's good for you, and more importantly how you SHOULD think.

It's for the children ...They can't get enough Capt. Black Grape! These things started happening years ago and are exactly why I've stocked as much as I have. There will most likely be a black market for this stuff in the future.

...sigh... I'm moving to Washington!
I feel your pain!
That was my hometown. I left in 1983 although I worked M-F there in the early 90s. There was little left of the city I knew.
You might check out New Mexico. Santa Fe might be "groovy" enough for to consider. Seriously, that town has a lot going for it. Certainly multicultural, strong arts and music, great restaurants, upscale and mostly tidy. Many San Franciscoistas relocated there.

Yep to all of the above (including being an ex-San Franciscan who relocated here - albeit after 20 years abroad). It does have its problems like everywhere else, and over-gentrification is no stranger. People from a lot of states find it expensive, but Californians and Brits find it relatively cheap, especially if you're willing to live even a few minutes outside of town.

I think that it all comes down to individual liberties, and being respective of them, and private tobacco use is a good example...nothing was said aout nuclear war...unless the city "supervisors" happen to have nukes. Yeah, I realize that. I was just making the point that no politician represents everything I believe in or that's important to me, and we all prioritize our votes by level of importance. I'll keep this non-partisan, so for an extreme and dumb example: I would not vote for Kim Jong Un even if he promised me a free birth-year Dunhill and a lifetime supply of McClelland and Esoterica! steveinny I see your point for tobacco and food etc., but not for disposable plastics that do nothing but pollute the environment. Surely if something equally useful but also biodegradable is available, what's the advantage of using plastics? I don't think it's a "nanny state" thing at all, but an environmental one. I also don't believe there is a single politician advocating "no firearms", as opposed to certain kinds of regulations. Things like not allowing someone on the terrorist watchlist to buy an AR-15.

Seeing as how the poster never bothered making an introduction, has posted nothing tobacco related(regarding personal use) and has a handle of ghost, how off track can we get?

The problem isn't the people in office, it's the voters who put them there, as I believe others have opined in this thread.
SF - a once great town which is racing with Seattle to be the Detroit of the west coast.

I’m a lifelong New Yorker. It’s my home. I love San Francisco too. It’s one of the places I would move to if I ever have the opportunity to retire the way I would like. But, the way some of the people think here is unAmerican. America was the ‘Great Experiment’, and part of that was freedom and enjoyment of individual liberties. We’ve clearly gone awry.

NYC isn't for me, but it is a crucible of free thought, which must be preserved at all costs. San Francisco on the other hand just thinks they know best.
