I have recently started smoking very small pipes (well, they seem small to me). I use a Pony Express for my morning smoke, which used to be Prince Albert but lately has been Lane Ready-Rubbed. I use a Grabow Lark the rest of the day.
I don't really have a reason for doing this, other than it sounded like fun.
Do you like small, average, or large pipes?

I like smaller pipes for Virginia blends.
Larger bowls work well for English blends and my occasional foray Into aromatics.
Burley works in small and medium sized bowls for me.

I like the Grabow, Yello Bole, Medico pipes that have the narrower shank/stem. The draw seems right. And, some of the pipes I have been gifted were those size pipes. They are all in rotation

I love the Big Ben Pipo. I smoke it regularly.
My regular preference is a big bowled Sav 320EX. But now and again, especially if I wan a quick smoke, the Pipo is great. They also carry well.

My legend Rob Roys are smallish and are almost my go to. They give me just the right amount of smoking time in an otherwise busy day.

I love the Rob Roys as well. Waiting for MM to get one of their cobbits in, which is a Rob Roy with longer stem.

Says it's taller, but width looks about the same, which is why I am waiting for it. The Elf. I have two other cobbits. The Wizard one I think is longer, which is not to my liking. The 7-9 inch range is great corncobpipe.com/the-elf-cobbit.html

Most of the time I like medium sized pipes, but when I just want to taste a tobacco I'll smoke one of my Sunrise Featherweights or my Orlick "The 3/4 oz." pipe shown below.

Also the smallest Cobbit is the Dwarf which is the Morgan with a finished bowl and a longer stem.

If you can get it try the Marcus, it is a smaller version of the Mark Twain. Close to the Legend in bowl size but about 4.5" long.Nice smoke. Also check out the Stubby, it is the Shire made in to a pocket pipe. MM is the only place that has it. I have both of these and enjoy them.

Forget that question.

I like small bowls, but I don't have many. Since I learned how to control my puffing, I can get 45 minutes out of the Lil'Devil MM, and an hour out of the group 3 Dunhill. Some of the larger pipes can last 2 hours and my largest beat me. I have to give up before I get to the bottom.

It is situational for me and I would note that sometimes a smaller briar pipe can zero in and define a blend in a very satisfactory manner.

small pipe or bowl or short stem. I prefer a normal to long stem. Some large or deep bowls smoke hot if puffing too much.

Boswell Grizzly pipes are for me, as she said, "bigger is better" or " what do you expect to do with that little thing "

Since a 30-45 minute smoke is just about right for me, smaller bowls work great. I have a few Piazzolla traditional billiards that have small bowls as well as some Dr. Grabow's. As mentioned previously, many cobs sport smaller bowls and they fit the bill nicely.

I was fortunate to get a 1954 GBD Lumberman that was barely smoked. It seems as if it was really made for Virginia ribbons and flakes, and smokes them cool...every bowl is a dream.

I have thought the current popularity of large pipes is partly driven by those who don't smoke much and therefore want a maximum experience when they do.

The only reason I don't like smaller pipes is the size of my hand. Larger pipes, like my RDPipes from Ron, just fit in my hand comfortably.

… I have a few small pipes but I rather stay with the gp. 4 to 6 size pipes most often...and of course a few ODA sizes...
