I started playing trumpet back in 73. Along the way I learned the baritone, valve trombone, slide trombone and eventually euphonium. Along the way I picked up guitar and bass guitar. Played stand up bass in a jazz band for a couple of years in the 80's.
All of this time I usually sang back up.
Nowadays I mostly sing, church choir and the occasional solo or ensemble, and occasionally do an open mic night if schedule permits.
Neat thread by the way.
p.s.
have a couple of solo's comin up in church on July 15th if anybody's in town. ;-)

Played trumpet for 50 years. Was part of the high, fast, and loud crowd. Played in Big Bands, Salsa, jazz combos, piccolo trumpet with pipe organs.
Rarely play since losing 95% of the nerves in my arms and hands, making my fingers rather unresponsive, I have to look at them while playing where I used to play with my eyes closed.

That must have been hard.

I'm a bass guitar player (and backup vocalist). I have two rock bands, a rock/country band, an "oldies" band (50's and 60's rock and roll) and an acoustic trio. I average about four gigs per month between those groups.

Played piano followed by guitar and then found my real passion in percussion ... specifically Afro-Cuban. Here's some of the toys: I also did a lot of singing in my younger days including being part of a Madrigal group that toured England and Wales. Good times!

Very musical group we have here. I wish I could play the guitar but I never could get my fat fingers to work right. Now I play the flatulantuba.
