I have taken to keeping a few cobs in the glove compartment with a tamper and cleaners, and a tobacco pouch roll of Carter Hall. Its a nice smoke for a quick trip, or even a longer trip, and I am not heart broken if the tobacco dries up or the cobs melt.
If I am taking a long drive, say three or four hours, well then I'll bring something long smoking like by beloved Blonde in a 320EX.

My own mixture made from several blends. Using a pinch or two or Three Friars, Dockworker, Brown Sugar Flake, Makhuwa, Ready Rubbed Match, and Trout stream in a Preben Holm Freehand 100. It’s the ugliest pipe I own but it smokes great. AJ

C&D Shelbyton in an old straight Falcon that looked like someone had sat on. It was badly bent, in the opposite direction of a bent Falcon. The airway tube was kinked to the point where it would barely draw and the bowl and innards were filthy. I restored the bowl, straightened the pipe and worked the kink out of the tube with pliers. I kind of like it.
