It's still no where near as bad as Tsuge - Raijin. Not Irish folks paddy 1 whole side of my family is from there. 1/4 Irish, 1/4 Polish, 1/2 Mutt. 100% ME To state Raijin has its fair share of Perique is an understatement. Still I wonder how the blend might fair with enough aging.

I'm not sure. What was left of my first tin is now in the landfill where it belongs. It was the worst thing I've ever smoked in my life. The first bowl was ok, the 2nd was hideous. The 3rd didnt get past the charring light. Absolutely awful tobacco. Maybe I was lucky enough to get a bad tin, but it tasted like it ran through a goat before it was packaged.
I've tried straight perique twice and didnt mind it at all.
I have some Irish X out to dry. Taking another one for the team later tonight.

I've chewed on brown bogie and liked it. I love a good pipe full. Stout tobaccos are wonderful. I dont like the Irish at all. I packed 1 bowl and couldnt even hit the halfway mark. BUT I will try it again this afternoon to see if that cat turd makes the waste basket. You are tougher than I am, I tried chewing brown Bogie for about 3 minutes... I called uncle.

Has a good flavor as a chew. I've only did it 3 or 4 times but it's good. I prefer lots of nicotine.

My experience with Irish X Twist, which I happen to like alot, is to let it dry dry dry, give a good grind and rub, then gravity-feed load and pack not-too-tight... it'll burn nice and reveal a Daniel Boone smoke from yesteryear. Not harsh or tarry... Baboo, what do you smoke it in? That may make a difference.

What's key for me with Irish X is air drying until a spongy crisp, herb grinding, and not loading too tight.

I don't have a grinder, so I'll chop it up as best as I can. And, I'll use an MM Country Gentleman.

With it being very dry and a very very light pack I find this now smokable. I dont see myself grabbing for it often, but it's not going in the trash.

I have found the same as roadsdiverged. It's still bad, but smokeable. If SHTF, I could survive, but not as happily as if it were just about anything else.

Holy crap. I got this, because of the polarized reviews on multiple sites. Mostly bad reviews. I had to try it. The tobacco comes in a dark colored turd form. The aroma, unsmoked, is rubber, asphalt, a little sour, and a little fired. I cut it into slices, and rubbed them into coarse ribbons. I packed it in my large Nording freehand. It took quite a few lights to get it going. Once going, the taste was reminiscent of burnt rubber, dirt, and cinder. I could not smoke the whole bowl. The off-putting, deeply sinister, cooked tar flavor was just too much. 1/10, will try again when I'm feeling masochistic. Edit: nic hit is as intense as the burnt tar. Yep, exactly my experience with Rum Twist! 😁 We take out the jar and laugh at the dog turd that is supposed to be tobacco. 🤠

I'm grateful for reviews like this to warn me off certain tobaccos that I KNOW I won't like. However, when a road is being tarred I just love that smell. i could smell tar all day. Dammit - maybe I'd like this blend. Maybe you should imagine diesel and burning tires.

I found it more smokeable than the Irish Twist, but that tambolaka literally had fairly prevalent diesel and lemon peel notes.

Dammit - maybe I'd like this blend. Maybe tar isn't the best descriptor. Think of tar and ground meat heated to carbon form, bubbles and hard crack surface. It's almost indescribable. I like the smell of a tarred road too, so I'll retract my former statement. A sort of tar barbecue!

Yes. BBQ'd chuck roast basted with tar and scorched. Basically macadam steak. McAdam was the Scotsman who invented the paving method. Does that mean that this is a Scottish Road blend?

It'll put some hair on your chest. I have plenty of hair on my chest, and as I get older I have hair in places that I don't especially want it. Ears, nose, etc. Lately my beard is growing an eighth of an inch per day. I am interested in a blend that will reduce hair growth, or at least move it to the top of my head. The Laphroaig might be aggravating my condition.
