Red Schoendienst, Hall of Famer. Cardinal Coach and Manager passed away at 95. I always loved Red. He picked up on the Cardinals after Johnny Keene left. I used to drink with Red's brother. Just a side note as he passed away some years back. Red always gave it his best on the field and in the dugout. May you rest in peace.

Very few people were active in the big leagues as long as Red. He was Cardinal since before I was born. RI

I truly loved the guy, but only knew his brother. We hung out at the same piano bar. Those were some days. I don't watch Baseball anymore unless it's semi pro or nostalgia league, but the Cardinals history (and the Browns) was really great. Went to church with a Brownie. Dad played with him on a softball team. I am old enough to have seen so many people I admire pass on, but I am so grateful for the memories.

In Saint Louis everyone that likes that era is a Stan the Man fan. Not saying I'm not. Got to see him play. Red was a player who was just short of great who made himself great by his commitment. I thought he was always a Cardinal, but was with the Braves for a short time.
