Long story... I posted a thread about fancy tampers a while back, and in that @johnr said he had one he'd like to send me and asked how much it would cost to ship to me. I found out it was about a fiver to ship internationally from USA (which wasn't as expensive as I'd thought). Today, however, my wife calls me up and says, 'What have you ordered from America? More pipes!!!??' I thought to myself, 'I haven't ordered any pipes that I know of. Perhaps I'm sleep-TADing.' Then the penny drops. I get home to find 3 home made tampers, 2 MM Legends (I wonder how he knew I loved legends?), a lovely caved plate and get this...a pack of Carter Hall! Yes, he even managed to get me some tobacco. @johnr - sir, you are a true gentleman and a generous one at that. I am dumbfounded at your generosity. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.Short story...
@johnr rocks. He sent me some cool stuff. See below...

I must say that some other very generous people have offered to send me items, but I didn't want to put anyone out the cost of shipping to Ireland. In this instance John 'tricked' me. I thought he was only sending me a tamper...I never expected THAT!

Legend Lover, I am glad you like everything. As I was putting this together I remembered a comment that was made about not being able to get American OTC. I found this wee bit of Carter Hall and knew it had to go to you. Please let us know your opinion of it. Also the plate is turned from popular. I hope it serves you well in drying your tobacco. There is one thing I enjoy the most in life. That is doing a random unexpected act on kindness. Enjoy John

I will keep you posted. I think it was only the other day that I posted about carter hall...And you didn't even give me carter hall - you gave me 2009 carter hall.
I did notice the cut seemed like cross-cut shredded paper. i.e. ribbon cut but then cut into smaller bits. I've never seen a tobacco like that before. Are there many like that?

I agree... John is a good guy, and quite a character, the fellowship of the pipe club benefits from his presence.
Still wonβt stop me from slipping burrs under his saddle though.
