The Prisoner - probably for the 3rd time but my wife had never seen it. Still holds up, and we wondered if it influenced David Lynch. "The Prisoner" saved my life. It is the summer of 1967 and the show is a summer replacement for some regular season network tripe. My family moved to a new city that summer and I knew no one. I mean, no clue. Here I am, 15 years old, in a place where I have never been and know no one or nothing. There were not even any other young around because we are hold up in a hotel. Anyway, one evening while the folks are out, I turn on the TV and there he is. Man, that show gave meaning to my existence but fast. Every week, I hung on The Prisoner. It got me through the summer with all its weirdness. Now, this portends discussion of what TV viewing was like before recorders, either tape or digital. What you saw back then was it. There was no recording, no replay. We had to pay close attention and what we missed was gone, meaning it had to be discussed with others who witnessed. This instant and sudden impression of shows like "The Prisoner" or "The Avengers" or "Star Trek" was all there was. Man, you better get it the first time or it is lost.

I had a similar experience with Monty Python's Flying Circus, strangely enough. I know there are arguments for the present being the golden age of TV, but a lot of those 60s shows hold up really well.

Just finished jack Ryan. Gotta say it was pretty good. Not quite the level of 24 but still a great watch. Thanks Ronv69.

We couldn't get into 24 or Saul. I guess that's why they make different shows. Not everyone is going to like the same things.

"Danger Man." An early season, about 1964. On Dish Channel 33. Only the weekends. The precursor to the series "Secret Agent".
Holds up suprisingly well. This happens with intelligent writing and capable actors.
BTW, this channel is also showing the early seasons of The Avengers. You know, with Honor (me: pant, pant, pant) Blackman.

I have the complete series of The RAT Patrol! On DVD, and enjoy watching it. A lot of great guns that I wish I had, especially the .50 cal mounted to the Jeep.
Christopher George had his chest slammed pretty hard on an episode, unbeknownst at the time it damaged his heart, and later in life caused his early demise.
In the opening scene, the actor on the back of the Jeep is whipped around like a rag doll, I bet that came back to visit him later in life.

We had a 1942 Willys Jeep at the time. No M2 .50, though.

First 2 episodes of Star Trek Discovery. I hope the rest of the series is not as godawful as that! Truly a low point on the franchise.

The original series is the only one I watch regularly. The Next Generation I can take in small doses. The Kate Mulgrew series is OK as I enjoy her on occasion. She reminds me of an LAPD Officer I knew long ago. The writing seems to get progressively sillier as the various series role on.

Out of the new fall lineup I like the show FBI so far. I watched two episodes. Too busy for me. Too many characters and moving parts. Not enough suits. I like my FBI a certain way... Mr. Hoover's way.

Just finished jack Ryan. Gotta say it was pretty good. Not quite the level of 24 but still a great watch. Thanks Ronv69 . I watched a couple of episodes of Jack Ryan and it wasn't bad but... Having read all of the old Tom Clancy novels featuring Jack Ryan and two of the newer novels feature Jack Ryan's son, the writers of the series are guilty of mixing up the two storylines and backgrounds. The Jack Ryan in the series is supposed to be the elder Jack Ryan. In the books, the elder was a history professor and had written a couple of books. While he had done some consulting work for the CIA, it was low level stuff and he wasn't sent into the field until the events in the book "The Hunt for Red October." By the time "Patriot's Game" takes place he was a professor at Annapolis. The scene in the series where Jack Ryan kills a terrorist in a men's room? That actually takes place in "The Teeth of the Tiger" novel which is a part of The Campus series. Clancy only wrote one novel in the series before he died. The series deals with Jack Jr. being an analyst in the CIA who's recruited to work for a secret government organization.

I can't wait for the next season of the Amazing Ms. Maisel. Ms Maisel is the best written show since Sienfield. Jaw dropping good. Peaky is the Sopranos, but in 1918 Manchester. I am not a Kevin Cosner fan, but he's really good in Yellowstone. I also have been watching Better call Sal, but that one has been dragging a bit lately. Taboo is a Tom Hardy project

Ozark on Netflix. Excellent series starring Jason Bateman. I just finished the second season. season 1 was very good. Season 2 is on the list after I finish suits and shooter. I'm hearing more and more good things about Ms Maisel... That's got to go on the list too.

I highly recommend Ms. Maisel. I love comedy but there haven't been that many binge worthy so this was a nice surprise.

That's true, though the pattern for Next Gen, Voyager, and DS9 seemed to be a series of (minor) peaks and troughs. They get better, then worse, then better.... ad nauseum. Enterprise never quite got its legs but did have its moments. I had higher hopes for Discovery in this new supposed golden age of television, but I guess network TV is still a ways behind the digital producers.
