My son who makes sure that I don't run out of tobacco was just at JR Cigars..He said that the sign on the building has been taken down.A fella inside told him that the business was just sold to Macy's and the name is going to be changed..Anyone know if this is true?

possibly check JR's website when possible. If that part still ok, looks like, like many, closing the B&M stores. Bought some cigars 2 weeks ago, no problems.

J&R? The one in Selma NC ? A friend of my daughter’s just told me last Wednesday when he stopped by the business was still J&R’s. I don’t know if Macy’s is stable enough financially to purchase any other type of business? A few back on Long Island already closed their doors. The only Macy’s that still does well is the one located in NYC, on 34th street in Hearld Square.

Nothing online about J&R’s or JR cigars being sold. Just articles when they drastically downsized.

I know Imperial/Altadis said years ago that JR was doing away with the housewares, books and other junk to concentrate on the cigar super stores.  |

I received an email response earlier this morning from the JR Selma Manager, David, who states "All stores are open with signs on the buildings and the tall pylon sign. Selma and Burlington are in their same locations and the Statesville store moved 10 miles down the highway to Mooresville."
And, that was the end to his email. So there you go!

Seems that JR recently hiked all their prices by close to 25% according to the owner of our local B&M.
